  • It’ll be the death of you.

  • Done for Anzac Day / The image represents a fallen soldier, who’s remains were never recovered during the first world war. It didn’t matter to me what side this soldier was fighting on. / The letter at the base of the post was his letter he kept close to his heart and was to be his last letter to his loved one.

  • Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Quite an amazing place…. / Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • Here is my utmost. This is were life ends and death begins. It’s were death ends and life begins. In one picture is pain, suffering, injustice, judgment, helplessness, betrayal and the deepest sorrow; and yet there is an equal amount of hope, tenderness, compassion, forgiveness and healing. Here is a painting which captures the sacrificial love of Christ on behalf of helpless humanity, born and unborn. Philippians 2:6 says, “Christ who, existing in the form of G-d, counted not the being on an equality with G-d a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross.”

  • i was born in new york city that’s what influenced me to draw this guitar as well as punk rock music.

  • Im super excited to see such an amazing graphic novel come to life. so I wanted to see the smile face on a shirt and here it is.

  • Late afternoon, Lyrup flats between Renmark and Berri in the Riverland of South Australia. Afternoon shots whilst waiting for the sun to go down for a night time shoot. The clouds moved apart and left this diamond like section reflecting nicely on the still backwaters. Again a visit to one of my favourite places where these huge River gums stand defiant against nature, dead but not finished….... Canon 400D 18-55 lens, CIR Polarising filter. Three shot panoramic stitch in CS3 and converted to B&W in the same program.

This artwork was featured in Inspired By Poetry, HALLOWEEN, and Color Me A Rainbow Won the Best Of Pink challenge Definitely a departure from my usual stuff. And colour. I had a real strong desire to go blue with this as usual, but there was something about a warm colour that made the message come across more clearly. Inspired by the last stanza of a beautiful poem called “Life” by George Herbert (1593-1633). Farewell, dear flowers, sweetly your time ye spent, / Fit, while ye lived, for smell or ornament, / And after death for cures. / I follow straight without complaints or grief, / Since if my scent be good, I care not, if / It be as short as yours. ....Stock Credits….* / Sky/Field/Road / Death / Stock copyrights remain the property of their respective owners.
