  • Satellite, oh, satellite / Who sits upon our skies / How deep do you see when you spy into our lives? I know that god lives in everybody’s souls / And the only devil in your world / Lives in the human heart So now ask yourself / What is human? and what is truth? / Ask yourself / Whose voice is it? that whispers unto you? / From the cellars of your homes / From the tops of your city roofs / Ask yourself / Whose voice is it? that whispers unto you? Who is it? / That turns your blood into spirit and your spirit into blood Who is it? / That can reach down from above and set yours souls ablaze with love / Or fill you with the insanity of violence and it’s brother: lust Who is it? / Whose words have been twisted beyond recognition / In order to build your planet earth’s religions Who is it? / Who could make your little armies of the left / And your little armies of the right / Light up your skies tonight Now some of you may live and some of you may die / But remember / That nothing in the world can kill you inside / For he is thinking of you / In your great cities of great solitude Oh children you’ve still got a lot to fuckin’ learn / The only path to heaven is via hell Good morning beautiful, good morning beautiful / Good morning beautiful, good bye world The The

  • Every now and then I like to “step outside” my boundary of usual subject matter and do something really different. This is one of those images. Captured outside the town of Central City, Colorado, I happened by this scene by luck, along with the other 2 cemeteries close by it. Long closed, these are the real deal “wild west’ cemeteries, long forgotten, long not seen. Looking like a scene out of the movie “Pale Rider”.....I had to photograph it. The ruts in the ground were still visible from where the old wagons used to carry the bodies up from the town. Quite an amazing place…. / Thoughts welcomed! —-John —-—-—-—-—-—-— / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. • A very colourful graveyard in the market town of chichicastenang, Guatemala.

  • Another collaboration with the fabulous photographer, Paul Louis Villani. His original photo is called Houses of the Holy

  • Captured at a old Pioneer Cemetery outside of Central City, Colorado…..lemme tell ya, this place is the REAL: deal, you expect to see Clint Eastwood outta the movie Pale Rider come through any second. Quite spooky and also, it is an area that just kinda puts ya in a time warp….. Thoughts welcomed!

  • The Tian Tan Buddha appears serene and dignified. His right hand is raised, representing the removal of affliction. His left hand rests on his lap in a gesture of giving (dhana). The Buddha faces north which is unique among the great Buddha statues. (All others face South.) I’m not a very religious person, but I need to know where my religious background stands in my family. This place was definitely the eye opener. How do they even carry all the 250 tonne bronze to make a 34 metre high statue up there?! A remarkable achievement. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO / - – - / Shot specifications: / Camera body – Canon EOS 350D / Lens – Sigma 10-20mm HSM DC / Shutter speed – 1/100 / ISO – 100 / Focal length – 10 / f-stop – f/10 Wow alot of 10s.

  • For the past week or so I have been in a real deep funk. Won’t go as far as saying depressed but overwhelmed by the feeling of unhappiness. I sketched this out last night about midnight and felt that it was worth throwing up here. I wanted to capture how I’ve been feeling and this happened to pop out. No preconceived idea of what I was aiming for and was at the will of my subconscious. As you see in the image, I am gripping onto one of the only things that make me happy, and no matter how hard I squeeze, it still feels like it is slipping away. What IT is, is not important, because it can be anything that brings you any kind of joy. And as you see, without that happiness and that “constant”, I am nothing. Along with my happiness I myself begin to slip away into the darkness, hoping to meet my happiness at the bottom.

  • As a once psychology major, I was intrigued by Freud’s theory on the id and ego of the human psyche. It has been many years since those classes so my words may be somewhat off. But this piece is a self representation (aren’t they all?) of myself and how the “id” and “ego” play in our life decisions. We all seek pleasure and that constant feeling of euphoria, and our “id”’s only goal is to achieve those feelings without worry or care about the consequences of such actions. It is our “ego” that keeps the “id” in line, allowing us to think before we act, and to be able to foresee what may come of this pleasure seeking. It is a constant battle that wages on beneath our skin and sometimes the “id” overcomes. Some choose to live only by the “id”s bidding and never realize the destruction they leave behind when seeking their pleasures. I have been through that lifestyle once, and as much as I enjoyed such pleasures in bountiful amounts….the aftershock of those actions can still be felt today.

  • This piece is based on how much we base our decisions off of love. Not condemning it, but rather it intrigues me what those will do in the name of love. Many people have died for love, have fought for love, and have sacrificed for love. It’s a powerful feeling that enslaves us, causing us to react in ways we may not deem normal in a clear state of mind, but like they say, Love is intoxicating. 2nd traditional piece I’ve ever attempted with acrylics. It was (key word, was, because it was sold lol)a 18×24 inch stretched canvas with acrylics and india ink. I miss this piece dearly, but at least I have a wonderful jpeg of it’s remains.

  • The Angel of the North probably one of the most photographed works of public art in the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience. This is three images combined to make this scene.

  • What think ye? Do we have a soul? Does it perish with the body? If not, in what form does it continue afterward?

  • 1 Thessalonians 4:16 / For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: / Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / Canon 400d / /

  • “everything is mostly vast amounts of space between itself my love…...” Gallo, you told me that… and everything came clear… so clear… and even more complex now…. and then, “fluid dynamics”, you said… among all the significant words on that message, those two words brought my childhood back and my obsession for the infinite micro/macro… and you brought light into it. / You are the greatest inspiration for my creations, but this one, derived from that dream, is more than inspiration, it is a deep communion and I dedicate it to you, my soul mate. / / / i am so honored to have been featured in the EMI Magazine! Mark, that was a rabbit punch! thank you and to the EMI great crew!!! / i am thrilled to have this piece featured in Abstract Realism. this one is deeply special to me. / thank you!

  • When time has come and death is near / They show their strength and hide their fear / They share a joke, then shed a tear / Last moments spent with those held dear / / As grasp released on life held tight / And darkness falls, as though the night / Then soon replaced by something bright / Freed soul now moves into the light / / As toward the light they do ascend / They understand, they comprehend / It’s just begun, it’s not the end / Forever does their life extend / / This fractal artwork was inspired one night while watching a show on the television called ‘Ghost Whisperer’, where a woman is able to communicate with earthbound souls and help them ‘cross over to the other side’. As is the case in many near death experiences, the folks that die for a few moments and then come back describe going towards a beautiful light. / / I am not really a very religious person, however, I do believe that there is something much greater than us all in the grand scheme of things in the universe. In physics, the law of conservation of energy states that the total amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant. A consequence of this law is that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only changed in form. Seeing as how humans are basically a large network of electricity and magnetism (energy) housed within our bodies (matter), and given the physics law stated above, then this energy that makes us what we are can not die, but only change form. / / So what many may term as our souls (energy) must move on as another form of energy. So someone that dies for a moment and them makes it back saying that they see this light may not be as far-fetched as a lot of folks think… even from the scientific perspective. / / This fractal artwork was created in Apophysis, and is meant to conceptually portray what that light may look like as we move toward it after our physical demise, that portal where our life energy is converted into another form. The original is 3600 pixels square at 300 pixels per inch and took 51 hours and 22 minutes to render on a 3.2 Ghz PC with 4 GB of RAM. These technical details so you can appreciate how detailed the print is. / /

  • (Please, view larger). / Yewa is the Orisha of Death. She is a Virgin Orisha. Her priestesses are past their prime and always celibate. She is associated with Saint Claire. Her color is pink. When she dances at funeral rites she covers her face with two horse tails. She is queen of the underworld. She represents the spiritual side of the Goddess, the inward-looking, mystical aspects of being. This is basically a cinema 4D render; just a bit postwork to enhance the atmosphere. / (CINEMA 4D is a commercial, cross-platform, high-end 3-D graphics application, produced by MAXON Computer, Germany.)
