Out of the 12 women I know only 2 / felt relieved, small number, makes you wonder. / Planned parenting was created by a KKK supporter / for “race purification” – research guys, research. I do not completely agree with abortion. My concern is / more for the woman than the actual fetus. These / “side effects” are critical in at least 1/2 the cases. / Abortion should be approved in a case by case scenario. / If you disagree and choose to comment do so rationally / and in a respectful manner. I am tired of seeing men throw / a hissy fit over anti-abortion supporters, seriously guys? Adoption , it should be considered. What also / should be considered are the cases in which / abortion should be allowed such as rape or incest. / It should not be that easy to take a human life legally. / Abortion is not a means of birth control so stop using tax dollars to fund it and claim that it’s a “personal choice”... / Research has proven that a fetus can move away / from poisons injected into the uterus as early as / 6 weeks from conception. by Shawn CossAs a once psychology major, I was intrigued by Freud’s theory on the id and ego of the human psyche. It has been many years since those classes so my words may be somewhat off. But this piece is a self representation (aren’t they all?) of myself and how the “id” and “ego” play in our life decisions. We all seek pleasure and that constant feeling of euphoria, and our “id”’s only goal is to achieve those feelings without worry or care about the consequences of such actions. It is our “ego” that keeps the “id” in line, allowing us to think before we act, and to be able to foresee what may come of this pleasure seeking. It is a constant battle that wages on beneath our skin and sometimes the “id” overcomes. Some choose to live only by the “id”s bidding and never realize the destruction they leave behind when seeking their pleasures. I have been through that lifestyle once, and as much as I enjoyed such pleasures in bountiful amounts….the aftershock of those actions can still be felt today.

Medium: Digital / Size: 5” x 7” / Description: Created in a trail version of Photoshop, June 2009, this piece started out as an acrylic painting on textured canvas paper. I felt I had painted myself into a corner with this piece, so I transferred it to the computer to finish it. The Witch King came about, not from Tolkien’s creation of the same name, but more on the idea of a Burrow Wrights, Liches and Psychopomps. Whilst researching another painting, I found numerous articles on these types of ghostly beings and decided to create a character based loosely around these archetypes of the fantasy genre. Ghosts, to me, represent a manifestation of the fear of the unknown, the almost unexplainable. Although I don’t personally believe in the existence of such entities, my non-belief doesn’t stop me from illustrating them.
