Title: Bored / Camera: D80 / Capture Date: 08/07/2007 / Dimensions: 3872×3135 / Exposure: 1/4 sec at f/45.6 / Focal Length: 195mm / ISO: 500 / Filter: None / Flash: None / Tripod: None / Uploaded Date: 08/07/2007 / Comments: White tiger at the aquarium in Houston. This is why I do not like seeing animals in zoos or cages. Wouldn’t you be bored if you were a jungle animal and you were put in a cage like this? They are beautiful, but I would prefer they were free. © 2007 Charles Dobbs Photography. All photographs and artworks in this portfolio are copyrighted and owned by the artist, Charles Dobbs. Someone (not from RB) remarked that they didn’t like the way I photographed my children in such dark tones and they felt children should be photographed in colour – they felt it captured childhood better – maybe they have a point – but I photograph this way to try and capture either a timelessness or the spirit of the moment – anyway, I haven’t listen and i have made an earlier image even darker – just did a bit of dodging and burning.

I Am I am calling to you from afar; / Calling to you since the very beginning of days. / Calling to you across millennia, / For aeons of time- / Calling-calling. Since always. It is part of your being, my voice, / But it comes to you faintly and you only hear it sometimes; / “I don’t know,” you may say. / But somewhere you know. / “I can’t hear,” you say, “what is it and where?” / But somewhere you hear, and deep down you know. / For I am that in you which has been always; / I am that in you which will never end. Even if you say, “Who is calling?” / Even if you think, “Who is that?” / Where will you run? Just tell me. / Can you run away from yourself? For I am the Only One for you; / There is no other, / Your Promise, your Reward am I alone- / Your Punishment, your longing / And your Goal. / -Anonymous Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited
By request – one of my earlier pieces. A very strange size, but fun nonetheless!
Coloured Pencil and Ink on 280 gsm Glass Ivory Paper - / (40cm x 60cm) Worked on this one for over a week, through the wee small hours of the mornings. All my art is cathartic, it’s how I balance my life, creating is my reason to go on. When I’m up I create, when I’m down I create, creativity is my balance. I did this as one of my first experiments into coloured pencil art, and found the whole ‘colouring in’ process so very relaxing and calming. I couldn’t help but feel happyness and joy while doing this. I spent every moment I could as a child, laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring. Nothing has changed, I’m still laying on my tummy, drawing, colouring (lol) Views: 703 as at 25-11-2009 / Favourites: 38 as at 25-11-2009 FEATURED in ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’(June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘First Things’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Hand Drawn or Painted Art of Happiness & Joy’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Freedom to Shine’ (June 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Fantastic Primitive Art’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Colour Me a Rainbow’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Creative Cards’ (July 2009) / FEATURED In ‘Globes, Spheres and Curves’ (July 2009) / FEATURED in ‘The New Beat Generation’ (August 2009) / FEATURED in ‘Spectacular Spirals’ August, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through Art’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Oh so emotional (happy)’ November, 2009 / FEATURED in ‘Healing through art (HTA)’ November, 2009 /

I truly wanted to be able to take a daydream journey at a glance with these, and be transported from the daily routine. Look here for an incredible piece of writing by blueeyesjus that puts into words everything this image is conveying. Another one of the shots from the day at Port Melbourne beach. This depicts the scene I would picture in my head whenever I was in a place I didn’t want to be. More often than not, school. More specifically, maths class. I wasn’t built for a classroom, being force fed instructions and problematic things that needed solving. It was always about the freedom of creation to me. So I would sit in class and think about anywhere other than where I was. It’s such a vivid memory, despite being 15 years ago. Sold as a Matted Print Featured in JPG Cast Offs / Featured in Australian Landmarks & Icons Crop of original shot, level tweaking to adjust tone. No other processing on this one. I wanted to create something that conveyed what I was thinking when when my mind wanders. This happens when I’m in meetings with people with monotoned voices droning on about mood boards and focus groups. If I could make a painting of how I feel and where I would love to be right now, this would be it. I hope you like it. Framed Print / Canon 5D, 17-40mm at 17mm (cropped), f/20, 1/200 sec, ISO 100.
