Hi Folks I am now soooo pleased that dawndavies has bought a card from me … not just any old card … a particular favorite of mine ‘sunset over the castle’ ... its special for many reasons and my life has just evolved around this place … my wife and I even had our wedding photos taken in the grounds of this amazing place. I am so pleased and so is my wife. Also special as Dawn was the very first person to communicate with me on RB … THANKS DAWN … a little piece of me is now on its way to you … cool xxx Dave

my second in a series of interviews that started here It was a real pleasure to interview Lori Peters / loripeters / i met her several months ago, drawn to her fabulous and charming Animal and nature photographs. Her close ups are so amazing, just like you are standing right there next to the Animals. Her Fox series is spectacular. i really think she should contact “National Geographic” and get a contract. How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? I think it keeps my mind off things that would otherwise worry me. My grandson was born with a devastating birth defect and has been very ill. I joined RedBubble in March, 2008 and found a great group of people to share my art with. I also found some wonderful friends who have encouraged me in my artwork (it was pretty bad in the beginning) and have seen me through some sad days with my grandson. I feel that the people of RedBubble have validated me as an artist. That is priceless. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful There are so many!!! The most special ones were the ones who first welcomed me to RedBubble and gave me the encouragement to keep working at improving my art. You, Lisa, pinkyjain are one of those people. The most special moment was when I came home a few days before the 4th of July and found a picture that Cherylc1 / cherylc1 / had made for me. Her picture was a red and white petunia with an American flag in the background. She did it to honor my military service, something that I am very proud of. Obviously, Cherylc1 made a print sale and I got a print that I will always cherish. / Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you I will have to give that honor to RB member, russell lee klika. / russell lee klika / All his pictures titled “Iraq” are my favorites but the ones I like best show Iraqi children smiling and interacting with our troops. I am fiercely patriotic. Russell’s pictures say more than words ever could. / What is the primary reason you make and enjoy experiencing art? I love nature, especially, animals. They have such a positive energy that emanates from them. There is no such thing as “just” an animal. They are all a precious gift from God. I am an advocate for many animal groups. I support The Humane Society of the United States, the ASPCA and Defenders of Wildlife. I also contribute to many other charities such as the USO and Habitat For Humanity. After all, people are God’s creation, too. List some artists or experiences that have shaped the way you see the world. I would have to include you (pinkyjain) in that. I have learned from people like you and Dawn Davies to loosen up and use my imagination more. dawndavies / I feel more free to express myself. ...and of course anyone else who would like to join,, As some of you may know,, some groups may be being canceled due to very little activity, well, All things Ancient Egyptian is one of them. / Dawn and i have replied to Jo O’Brian asking that our group not be canceled, since although we dont have many submissions there is not another group like it on the Bubble and this would be unfair to those who do participate in the group. / So, to make this easier and keep the group more ‘Active’ Dawn and I have changed the Group name slightly, to / All things Egyptian / This will hopefully allow a wider range of images into our group, / Modern day Egypt, is just as welcome into this group as Ancient Egypt. / I am sending this note via Journal as i am not too sure if many members have time to go into the group forums and check out the News. Hi everyone,,, dawndavies and dawnsky2 would like to invite all Ancient Egyptian lovers to join our NEW Group,,, All things Ancient Egyptian We want to see your creative ideas, of how Pharahos and Queens looked in this time line, their lifestyle, tombs, pyramids, sphinx, their Gods and Goddess’. Writing is accepted in this group too. / Your art work or written piece must have the ‘Ancient feel’ to it, or mentioned at least once. / Having said that, holiday images of the Pyramids, Tombs and Sphinx are acceptable. So long as they are cropped to show only the subject relative to the group. Once this group is established, we will be participating in Challenges. This week two of my works have been featured in Groups, Wings in the SEA group and / Tequila Sunset in the painted digitally Group, Tequila was also placed 4th in their All things Painted Digitally competition and / Harbour Lights was 10th in the March Avatar challenge in the Harbour Life Group. I am still looking for my first win in one of the challenges, I guess it’s a real challenge to win a challenge…very hmmm challenging. I have been a little diverted from Redbubble this week as my Web site hosting service decided that they didn’t want to host websites anymore, so I have been doing a little work on that and thinking how to go forward with my web sites. I decided to keep my www.paulgibbons.org and update it during the changeover. This is still very much work in progress and the official launch date will be soon. Maybe I should host a big launch event, skimpily clad abseiling babes revealing posters from the top of a skyscraper or the Red Arrows writing the site address across the skies, I prefer the babes version myself, if there are any out of work abseiling babes reading this then send your application to me by bubblemail. Just a thought, have you tried googling yourself? I know it does sound a little rude but give it a go. I am a musician, a philosopher, an Internet cheat, a retired pole vaulter from New Zealand and a landscape artist. However if I yahoo myself which is almost as painful as googling. I am second only to the philosopher Paul Gibbons and I whoop the musician into 3rd place! Interestingly the Redbubble version of me makes page 2 in yahoo and page 2 in google which does beat my Imagekind and FlLICKR pages well done the bubble for promoting atrtists. Talking of promoting artists please visit Dawn Davies a brilliant artist whose work I am sure you will love if you don’t already. A final Thought…. Knowledge – Knowing a Tomato is a Fruit. / Wisdom – Knowing not to put it into a Fruit Salad.
