Despite its discomforts, winter in South Dakota offers some of the most beautiful opportunities for photography. I took this picture at a county park near the Missouri river on a morning that was graced with new fallen snow and a dense fog that often hovers near the waters of the river.

In life as well as fishing it’s all about the journey! / As the sunrise burned through the fog early Sunday morning, on Clear Lake near Hunstville, Ontario, two fishermen enthusiastically set out for their favourite fishing spot… / This shot was as a result of an early morning walk in / August 2008 in the fog: part planning, part serendipity. Caught ‘up the sware’ (a local viewpoint) at dawn yesterday ( 23/9/08) as the sun rose over the tweed valley just outside Peebles, scottish borders. To catch the sun rising over the mountain requires a 3AM wakeup call 2 hour drive and a short 1 mile hike to waters edge. In my book worth it! Dawn illuminates the cloud-capped peak of Mt. Rainier as it reflects in the the still waters of Bench Lake

Misty haunting morning this morning, sitting in a pine plantation at Mt Burr in the Limestone Coast area of South Australia. Last hints of fog lifting as the sun rose towards a clear blue sky. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with ND4 filter. Three shot HDR converted in Photomatix and cropped to size. Damn it was cold!!!!!!!!!!

Out early this morning to watch the sun rise through the fog in a pine plantation at Mt Burr – Limestone Coast South Australia. Certainly worth the cold to see the beauty as the sun tried to force its way into the forest. Natures strength showing the small re-growth forcing its way up amidst the towering trees. Canon 400D 18 – 55 with ND4 filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

Well at least it would be if I had my way, living in Glenmaggie and just spending the majority of my time photographing its beauty. But anyway, yes it was shot at Lake Glenmaggie, Victoria. Shot with a Nikon D200, 12-24mm lens at 15mm, F/11, 100 ISO. 4 shot HDR, merged/mapped in Photomatix, touched up in Photoshop.
