Captured out on the plains of Eastern Colorado at Sunset, they just went on for miles and miles….like a fantasy world of never ending Sunflowers..processed in HDR

In a magical moment between night and day, there is a special place and time. The time between seconds, when light and dark both have equal play. / So quick, so fleeting, this special time. / The blink of an eye and it is gone again. / The catch of a breath in the cold morning air, this special time between. / It is my passion to capture this time. / To freeze it and hold it forever. / An endless journey, an endless quest. / This one small moment in time. / Deri Dority 2007

A man sitting on a ledge near a canyon.
Whilst people hustle and bustle getting to work on trains, buses and cars all over the world some of us take the time to reclaim our freedom from “the man”. Always take time for youself because we are all allocated only so many sunrises. Taken with Canon 1Dmk2 with 24-70L @ 70mm, 1/400 f8 iso 100. 1100+ viewings

*Sunflowers and Colorado Sunsets * Revisiting the Sunflower fields I miss so much, a magical place on the eastern plains of Colorado like no where else, a place one day I hope returns. As the front rage of the Colorado Rocky Mountains dances with the setting sun, this scene seemed something out a paradise lost, the kind of thing you only ever read about. On this day when shooting the sunset here, I shot over 400 shots and came back quite a few other times as well. Well worth it I would say! I was treated to a sublime sunrise a few days ago…Havn’t had color like this for awhile. Taken at Cape Schank ~ Mornington Peninsula Coast…Victoria…Aus. / Pulpit Rock dominates the scene here with one of the many deep, deep rock pools in the forground..So very different from my last upload from this spot on this chilly but calm Winters morning…thanks for having a look in.

Young Draven (8) was patiently posing for me on this long exposure (4 seconds). This young kid has already a fantastic eye for composition. Numerous times he has seen something from his perspective and with his imagination that it is only a matter of time he will come up with his own vision and surprise us all. Meanwhile he is happy to carry my tripod and press the button on my cable release. / Any sponsors out there? I love the shape of these mangrove trees…in fact I am a devoted tree photographer just in case you haven’t noticed
This is one from my recent trip with Glen to Moreton Island where we were witnessing a great natural spectacle. Do I really need to say anything here…..just look at this landscape and soak it in. It is a large tidal pool where we enjoyed the silence and absence of civilisation. For those of you with an iphone, I have 100 of my "best" in an application called "ifolio". Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.
This tree has a bit of a story I suppose. Those living in the Brisbane area know it as “Garry’s” tree….just kidding. It is a fantastic subject both for Sunrises and Sunsets and even night shots. Go and get it…hehe
