Black Friday and the girls decided to head out at 4AM to shop and I headed for the Grand Canyon to watch the sunrise. Even though it was 15 and windy I stll think got the better end of the deal.

Early one January morning, I got out of bed before dawn and headed in to London and the Thames. I knew where I wanted to get the shot from. I set up the tripod and camera and waited. I hoped the sun would be visible, but had nothing more to base the possibility on other than the sky had been red at sunset the night before. My luck was in!

Ya, thought the title pretty much summed it up! Captured a couple night ago as the sun was sinking low out at Reunion Lake on the eastern plains of Colorado. The colors were just stunning, I was pretty awe struck, it yielded quite a few really nice shots! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

Filling up a glass of water and noticed this out of the kitchen window. Literally ran outside with a t-shirt and slippers on to get this before it went. First few shots were a golden amber in color then it went to this before it disappeared. Only snapped about 30 bracketed shots before it was gone. Gonna go a repot my orchid while this is uploading (and I finished it, thanks dial-up). Hope you like it. Please critique… print available here and on my website. Before the dawn, Noora Evaporation basin near Renmark South Australia. Just before the sun with a brooding blue stormy cloud line silhouetting the majestic old dead river redgum trees that line the basin. As most of you know this is one of my favorite spots to sit and watch the sun come up! Canon 400D – 18-55 lens with CIR Polariser topped with ND4.

One of twelve limited Edition Canvas exclusive to Mary Archibalds Gallery, Contact Mary and the girls on 04 939 2112 archibaldsart@xtra.co.nz 95 Main Street Upper Hutt Shot along the Hutt River near Trentham Park in a small side stream after a hail storm, I’d taken the dog out and we had to shelter under a tree while the storm passed, once it cleared the light was magic, at the bottom of the valley the sun was trying to burst through (never did) which gave this Autumn peach tone. the peach tone lasted for about 3 mins and then it was gone followed by another down pore, I love the way the mist over Moonshine and Riverstone merges with the sky, I needed a very low angle to get the light reflected into the water, I’m om my knees in the water for this shot and it was bloody cold. Early morning just as the sun starts to rise – Lyrup backwaters near the Noora evaporation basin in the Riverland of South Australia. This is a backwater lined with majestic old river red gums but is not indicative of the main river. Still plenty to do and see on the river itself and well worth a trip. just on a whim, I got up at 5am and shot down the river, this spot is 5mins from home, my wife said the weather was going to be crap, not worth going out, you’re wasting your time, Brilliant! when people tell you its gonna be bad the chances are that its gonna be SENSATIONAL!!! you be the judge, I’m very happy with this image.
