Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. Dawn at Garie Beach, Royal National Park just south of Sydney, Australia. A seagull very obligingly flew into shot as I was taking this. Can you spot the silhouetted fishermen? / I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen – it’s only a little national park (14,000 ha) but the variety of stuff to photograph is simply endlessly inspiring. In life as well as fishing it’s all about the journey! / As the sunrise burned through the fog early Sunday morning, on Clear Lake near Hunstville, Ontario, two fishermen enthusiastically set out for their favourite fishing spot… / This shot was as a result of an early morning walk in / August 2008 in the fog: part planning, part serendipity. I particularly like the fact that compared to a lot of fog shots it displays color, to I think, an advantage and shows the promise of a beautiful sunny summer day emerging… Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm lens Featured in the group Ontario November 2009 / Top Ten placement in the Summer challenge for the group Ontario November 2009 / Top Ten Placement in the Nikon D40 Users, Masterpiece challenge, September 2009 / Featured in the Nikon D40 Users group, July 2009 / Top Ten in the Journey or Destination challenge for the First Things group, July 2009 / Featured in the Outsiders, March 2009 / Featured in Canada: The Great White North group September 2008 / Featured in the Nirvana group September 2008 / Avatar for Shots In The Fog group October 2008 / Featured in the ImageWriting group November 2008 / Featured in the 100% group. ! Featured on the RedBubble homepage on Monday, 9th February, 2009 ! / Featured in the group “Italy and all Italian things”. / Thank you so much!!! / Featured on October 10th 2009 – Thank you!!! / We took a trip to Tuscany in October 2006 and stayed for one night in a most beautiful place called San Giminiano. I got up really early in the morning to find the whole landscape beginning to glow in the morning light. Swathes of mist rested in the vales of this beautitul landscape. “Tuscan Dawn” was also taken (a little earlier) on this morning. It was one of those times when dragging yourself out of bed before dawn was well, well worth it! This work is absolutely “as is” work. No manipulation at all, just what we saw! /

Misty haunting morning this morning, sitting in a pine plantation at Mt Burr in the Limestone Coast area of South Australia. Last hints of fog lifting as the sun rose towards a clear blue sky. Canon 400D 18-55 lens with ND4 filter. Three shot HDR converted in Photomatix and cropped to size. Damn it was cold!!!!!!!!!!
Out early this morning to watch the sun rise through the fog in a pine plantation at Mt Burr – Limestone Coast South Australia. Certainly worth the cold to see the beauty as the sun tried to force its way into the forest. Natures strength showing the small re-growth forcing its way up amidst the towering trees. Canon 400D 18 – 55 with ND4 filter. Processed in Photoshop CS3.
The perfect place to sit and watch the sunrise and clearing mist over the beautiful tweed valley in the scottish borders… See also morning glow and mist in the valley I hesitated to post this one earlier but it does rather combine two of my favourite things…. cheers and comments most welcome.. cheers ;)) (ps tried a b&w but am really hooked on these soft tones…) Taken with an old nikon coolpix 4800 / f/2.7 / 1/46sec / ISO-50 / 6mm
I’m temporally challenged so dawn shots are rare for me but a couple of times a year near to daylight saving change-overs the sun stops getting up at a silly hour and becomes rather more civilised. I was lucky enough to shoot this after a night of rain so the rock pool on top of the cliffs was full. Shot off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, Sydney. West coast early morning light at Temma on Tasmania’s northern west coast as far as the coastal gravel road goes south. Tasmania is in Sth East Australia. After this its mud in winter and soft sand in summer. For about a one week period on the changeovers from wet to dry and dry to wet you can get an normal car 10 miles further south (if you dont really care about the gearbox, sump or exhaust system) The sky is the natural colour slightly underexposed. / Below the horizon the coppery colour has been auto corrected out and a white and black point added.
