Yes, before you say it … strange! :-) As of July 2009, this painting has had 5,048 viewings and has been favourited 79 times and had 194 comments, so I guess someone out there likes it. Many thanks for your enthusiasm. To be candid though, I’ll never cease to be amazed at its reception, as I didn’t spend too much time on it and even kept it out of my portfolio for ages as I thought it was sub-standard. Over a hundred years ago, Blyth had a lot of windmills. I did this stylised one from a black and white photo of a 19th century pencil drawing. I like working like that – it gives my imagination plenty to play with.
Some fractal art for the Christmas season.

I am dedicating this fractal to a great friend and wonderful photographer, Phil. We all know him here on the Bubble as Phil Thomson. Phil has the amazing ability to capture the “magic of the moment” in all his photos. This one is for you my friend! Visit Phil’s Gallery: Phil Thomson IPA / © Dave Moilanen 2008

Surrealism. In the course of every day life one is always confronted with having to make a choice about something. For every choice one makes, one must be prepared to pay the consequence. Adam and Eve had a choice. You can always think what the consequence may be in the land of Bryce. / © Dave Moilanen 2007
A few people requested I do a T version of this a long time ago.. I just got around to it. / Hope you enjoy.
When I was visiting relatives in Wrexham (North Wales), I spotted a stone head on the lawn near the library. It was decorated with mosaic. As I try not to plagiarise, I decided to draw the outline of the head and then draw it as though it was built with stones, sort of dry-wall style. As of September 2009 this has been favourited 37 times and featured 4 tiems, so I guess someone out there likes it :) I am now offering this for sale as view cards. Here is the photo I used for this drawing (I took it myself so there are no copyright issues) and I ask you to consider whether I do straight copies or, as I believe, I add some of my own style to the finished picture. Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.
Went to Halifax for the first time on Saturday, i n the really old Market hall in the centre was this beautiful little flower stall, i had to get a shot of, hope you like it.

This is our youngest cat, Mitch, part Maine Coon and part goodness knows what :) The view you see is the close up view I see when Mitch walks up to my face when I am lying in bed :) I used Staedtler Fineliners and W.H. Smith’s own-brand coloured pencils. The picture is on A3 white card. Many artists like art to be serious and meaningful, which is fine by me, but hey, I think the world is big enough to have fun art as well as serious art. This is based on a fluffy toy, but I changed the colours of his scarf, added stripes and gave him stripes too. I used coloured pencils and fineliner pens for this. Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit obviously influenced the manufacturers of this fluffy toy and I was probably think of him when I redesigned the scarf :) And here is the esteemed model himself: FEATURED BY FINE ARTS INFLUENCED BY LITERATURE GROUP – 11th October 2009 FEATURED BY RABBIT, RABBIT GROUP – 11th October 2009 FEATURED BY FIRST THINGS GROUP – 11th October 2009 / FEATURED BY ART AND STORIES MADE FOR CHILDREN – 15th October 2009 / FEATURED BY DIMENSIONS GROUP – 25th October 2009 / I wish to thank Peter the rabbit for being such an inspiration.
