I liked this image of my little girl as, to me it’s a simple and dreamy capture of childhood where it’s always happy, uncomplicated with bright colours, fluffy white clouds and sparkly light.

Beach Bride is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper / I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal, I used layers of thick white paint to achieve texture in her veil and wedding skirt

Model – Meluxine These are some outtake/alternates from the same shoot as Apple Blossom Girl – I actually took LOTS of shots from that set and am having strife picking the final shots to use, and since I treat RB as an alt/outtake spot as well as a preview/never before seen/standard portfolio, I figured what the hell ;) This particular pair were shot on my late Grandfather’s Ensign Selfix 820 on god knows what film, Fuji NPS 160 I thiiiiink… or possibly Portra 400NC. I had no idea what to expect, having never put film through the damn thing before, so the fact they worked and looked delightfully dreamy was very cool. These are scanned from the 120 neg, straight off the camera – no editing aside from putting them next to each other and whacking my watermark on them. Woohoo. This is a great poster for kids or a nice card to give when they lose their first tooth!!! A visit from the tooth fairy is always very very welcome!!! :) Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

documenting a day in a life of a photographer…..lol Im sure many of you can relate to this :P she obviously observed me quite a bit…and a while back she has claimed my little spare tripod that i used to mount my flash on….it is now full of stickers (her trademark of course) and she ‘mounted’ her hello kitty camera on top (when i say “MOUNTED” that means held together with a piece of hair tie LOL) Check out the picture i took of her from my camera along with her so called “equipment” here NOTE: for Nikon DSLR group, this shot was taken with a Nikon D300 and Tamron 17-50mm lens. The Nikon camera in the picture mounted on the tripod is a Nikon D80 with a 50mm lens.

Cycling on the roads through the villages of Vietnam, this little one wouldn’t take her eyes from us. Unlike many of the kids in Vietnam who waved and shouted with enthusiasm, her quiet curiosity of the white people on bikes was beautiful. All of my children have had (or still have) curly hair, I cannot count the number of knots I’ve unknotted… Mila’s are especially bad as she winds her curls around her fingers until they’re completely entangled, sometimes trapping her fingers in the process. I love the quietness on her face in this portrait, and her eye lashes against her cheeks. A collaboration with Christine – this is a real skirt!!! on a hand drawn model, i hope you like…it’s the roaring 20’s flapper vintage version, of the design below, to see the process, etc, read on…this skirt is designed by Chris and will be for sale available as patterns for knitters in early January, this design will be on the front of the patterns. let me know if you are interested in ordering a pattern and i’ll pass on your details to Chris \ / sales of this design – 1 so far, thank you Chris!! / / a special project, this took 15 hours to complete from start to fin. it began as a pencil drawing and a photograph of a skirt and was in 3 parts which i put all together… see below: / Top half of Arwen (pencil drawing) / / Arwen Skirt / / Bottom half of Arwen oh yes! i forgot to mention the background is an old rusty tin (a photo) which i found in an opshop..i loved it to bits and finally found a use for it! it forms the basis for the background and the matt Arwen is standing on too The skirt in this image is a real skirt! / See it here and gasp what a gorgeous beauty, and it was not only made by my friend Christine Jones but it was DESIGNED by her. Chris is currently completing a course in the UK to enhance her knit design skills, it’s very intensive and she always wanted to be able to create her own designs, finally, she’s come up with not just one, but another beautiful Flamenco wrap knitted and designed by Chris with eco friendly yarns, was recently featured on the front page of YARN Magazine Chris has asked me to create girls to ‘wear’ her real designs once she has created them, so that she can put the designs on the front of her patterns and sell to other knitters. This arwen design she’s come up with in rainbow colours has got to be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, I’m so proud of my friend. I have recoloured Arwen and reimagined her in a vintage 1920’s style art deco scene as a little Charleston dancer/flapper …. the skirt seems to easily translate into the fashion of that time… one day Chris hopes to also create an adult version of the skirt with pattern… wouldn’t that be cool. Chris is a wiz with all things textile and fibre, and i recently visited her place for a Sunday garage sale and came home with more than i intended .. a beautiful huge felted bag, gorgeous Cloth, Scissors, Paper mags, tools and equipment for stamping, so inspiring! Thank you Chris! I will keep you posted. Please email/bmail me if you would be interested in a copy of Chris’s patter for the skirt, it’s at this stage for girl’s but if you are interested in it as a big girl pattern for ladies, please let me know and I’ll pass on your interest to Chris to spur her on into making the adult one and creating a pattern for it also.
