  • The thunderstorm in this photograph was taken on the top-end wetlands late in the build up season…only weeks before this area was a dustbowl, yet weeks later it becomes a floodplain ! As the storm surged across the lush plains it dumped heavy rain and some shortlived reprieving cool winds. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 bubblesite / photography blog / portfolio —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking on the preview image below. / / / /

  • Monsoonal thunderstorm at 4am, Darwin. / Rollieflex SL66, Fuji Velvia film. The orange color is created by smoke from fires which are common at that time of year. It is a time exposure though, so many of the ‘in cloud’ lightning flashes illuminate the cloud progressively during exposure of about 2-3 minutes. So it’s not exactly the same as what the eye sees at any one moment. © Ern Mainka

  • Taken in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Every other tree on this stretch of coastline was a green palm, this was only the exception and I couldn’t resist it. See my video on YouTube

  • This image has been published in JPG Magazine Issue 17 I’d just like to say thank-you again to this little guy that stayed still long enough for me to compose this image -he watched my every move & I was too scared to breathe… -Jules You can also support the Phoenix Appeal (Victorian Bushfire Relief Fund) You can by this image and help a great cause HERE

  • I’ve only been to Darwin once – in the summer of 1997 to visit my brother. I timed the trip to maximise storm potential though opportunities remained limited while I was there. Fortunately this storm put out some nice lightning near Darwin Airport.

  • Evolution of fisherman

  • I’ve got a few shots of this sunset in Darwin, hard to choose the best one, but the fisherman in this one I like, adds magnitude. (to the left if you can’t see him!) Taken at Lee Point, Darwin. Canon Ixus 430

  • In mid-July 1837 Darwin started his “B” notebook on Transmutation of Species, and on page 36 wrote “I think” above the first evolutionary tree. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Darwin

  • I’ve just bought my first Ukulele inspired by the fantastic Barnkickers (v=t7qdwI7TVe8) and brilliant Julie Nunes (v=lRdju_M-MF8) as seen on Youtube. The T-Rex was genetically designed to play Ukulele, but became extict 65 million years before its invention.

  • This is a picture of Charles Darwin, done in the style of the infamous Jim Fitzpatrick stylized version of the Alberto Korda photograph “Guerrillero Heroico”. With the slogan, “Vive la Evolucíon!”

  • It was a surprising and short meeting in strongest current. I realized a big shadow, left my safe place behind the rocky wall, took two fast shots and was blown away immediately.
