  • What nightly worms in this dark tower plot their webs of old, / What spectres pace upon the top to spy their works unfold, / What evil stench protects it’s base, what demons sit astride, / What noble men have battled here – battled, bled and died.

  • Sunrise over Fes, Morocco. Adhan (Athaan) is the Islamic call to prayer, recited by the muezzin. The root of the word is ʼḏn “to permit”, and another derivative of this word is uḏun, meaning “ear.” This is the minaret of Kairouyine mosque in Fes. • Scanning old negatives from my archive, I have found a photograph of Cinque Torri (Five Towers) and Tofanas taken very late in the afternoon. I liked the combination of dark clouds and remaining summer haze that made the background looking very flat like in a painting. Just before clouds covered the sun completely, last rays fell on the Cinque Torri, a group of rocks very popular by climbers. To complete the feeling I had about the picture, I’ve applied ‘colored pencils’ filter in post-processing of this photograph. Dolomiti, Italy. August 2001. Canon EOS 500N, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, sharpening, colored pencils, color enhancement, blend modes. Detail of the image showing the ‘color pencils’ effect:

  • This is the top of Glastonbury Tor. There are many legends associated with the tor. Prominent among them, in the Arthurian legends, Glastonbury Tor is often considered to be part of Avalon. In ancient times, the tor would have been an island in a marshy land, but it was later drained and now the Tor rises out of the village of modern day Glastonbury. The tower on the top is the remains of a 14th century church that was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539. The tower is all that remains of that church and was restored in modern times.

  • The old paper mill stack in Alderley, Brisbane, Qld.

  • Weeping Willow. This is my favourite willow tree which stands at the side of Huntingdon River which is a town in Cambridgeshire, i changed this to black and white and added a soft focus effect, i cropped the image slightly and adjusted the light as it was a cloudy day..Taken Dec 2008 – Sony Cybershot 10.1mp /

  • An original photograph, deleted the background and part of the foreground and then overlaid a layer of black background Then with the complete picture overlaid it in reverse again deleting most of the fore and background. Then merging the Bryce-created planet/moon and a simple Bryce-created cloud. Then layered in a copy of the isolated building then blurring it slightly and adding it to the mix. Then added the stars and there you have it. / Criticism welcome. #12 Great Features

  • Bridge The legend of these Ravens in the Tower of London is so important to the people of England that ten ravens (6 on duty and 4 young spares) are actually employed by the Tower of London at the expense of the British government, in return for their service. It was said that Charles II ordered their removal following complaints from John Flamsteed, the Royal Astronomer However, they were not removed because Charles was then told of the legend that if the ravens ever leave the Tower of London, the White Tower, the monarchy, and the entire kingdom would fall (the London Stone has a similar legend). / Info Here
