Melbourne City after twilight from Princes Bridge. / Viewed from Southbank on the Yarra River 1.5hrs after sunset. Melbourne is a very pretty city at night with lots of memorable locations. / 30D, 24-70L,mirror lock-up+timer,24mm, 1/15th, f/11,iso100. I’d left my tripod at home so ended up balancing the camera and propping the lens with a Malteeses choclate box. made from two photo’s, one shot above and then another below to capture the view and also to boost detail for print.

Melbourne Doors – These two doors are actually separate but lie within the same alley within the CBD. I combined the two to include as much graffiti encroachment as possible! Hope you guys like it!

Took this one last saturday night after doing a percussion session down in Geelong for the new Sons of Korah album. Usually I stick to the natural landscape but this is purty nice all the same. For other shots in this genre check out my Urban Landscapes gallery.

Taken in marvelous Melbourne. This shot was thirty seconds long and the sculpture in the foreground (Angel by Deborah Halpern) was in deep shadow, after I tripped the shutter I suddenly remembered that I had a torch in my bag so I quickely grabbed it and painted the sculptures legs with my torch beam to help balance the exposure. So I know there’s gotta be other people out there excited about the release of the new Batman Movie The Dark Knight, or is it just me? This is a tribute to possibly one of my favourite movies! This is also one of my first really serious attempts at creating some digital artwork in Photoshop. This is the result of me having a lot of time, sitting at home sick when I should be at work. The question is can you see Batman?? For this I started off with one of my pics of Melbourne, Australia from Southbank which was a HDR from 3 exposures. I then added in bats, flood lights, batman, the moon etc. and then once again a lot of tinkering in Lightroom to finetune :) This image has had over 5000 views Sales 1 Mounted Print 1 Poster Click here for my other images of Melbourne

I was having my coffee this morning on the balcony while watching the rain and it gave me an idea so here it is! This was taken of the rain coming down on the balcony balustrade with the clouds in the background. I know that there are lots of amazing captures of splashes here on RB but this image really wasn’t about the splash, to me, it was more about the capture of morning rain. Best viewed large :o) Nikon D200 / 18-200mm lens, 5.6f / exposure 1/320 / processed in RAW

by parmiAnother one of Melbourne’s magical lane ways. This one runs between Bourke Street and Little Bourke Street. I love the industrial urban grunge this one has. The graffiti on the bin in the foreground reads COOKIE, as the building at the end of the lane way is The Curtain House, a multi level building housing Cookie, The Toff In Town and the Rooftop Bar & Cinema (in summer). This particular lane had a dark feeling to it. Although not overly dirty or strewn with rubbish, I could imagine the underbelly of Melbourne meeting here for some illegal operation. Do we have assassins in Melbourne? If we do, I’m sure this would be the perfect crime scene! by parmiDifferent? My depiction of the mind of someone in personal struggle with society. The light and the dark, happy and sad, known and unknown. All of this moving with random thought processes, pop culture, gossip, media influence, culture clashes and a lot of the time, white noise to fill whatever silence is left. This is modern society. Confusing, confronting, intimidating and at times down right scary. Which way do we go? Title of this piece I have borrowed from one of my favourite songs: “..can I please have some silence. How about some space..“ / Mindcircus – Way Out West. City Of Melbourne Musuem. Not the one in Carlton, housing dinosaur bones and relics though. This is the nondescript one on Spring Street, in the old Treasury Building. It showcases the history of Melbourne as a city, from colonisation to today. This was taken in the vaults, underground. Which have been turned into an interactive journey through the gold rush days. This particular room had only a tv and light in it, both of modern look. The contrast grabbed my attention straight away. It had a spooky yet familiar effect on me. I didn’t know what to make of it, but I kept looking at it, unsure what to think or feel. Slight crop of original photo. Desaturated all and selectively coloured tv screen. Increased contrasted and brightness to achieve higher levels of mood. Here is a re-worked image of my little girl and my husband which was on RB a while ago.. I keep coming back to it so finally decided to play with it and here it is… I originally had this image in colour but got some great advice from a fellow bubbler to try it in b&w so I did…... This image was taken when my little girl fell over on the rocks and hurt her knees and her daddy gave her a piggy back to the car before the storm came.
