On Zazzle / On DeviantART Won a Today’s Best Award on Zazzle (second page, bottom row) Closeup of a picture I’m workng on – I liked this bit on its own, and I wanted to show a closeup on the details anyway. Very Sandman and Neil Gaiman inspired (specifically, the Endless – Mostly Death, but also Dream, Destiny and Desire), but not actually OF them. Some personal stuff in there – some emotional imagery, some pretty details that mean nothing. / The pain of caring and protecting something beautiful that feeds on you and hurts you. The paleness of being only a shadow compared to another’s light and glory. The power of darkness and being unknown, and the restraint possessed and never seen. And I just had a completely different idea for the background… Anyway, the full picture’s up to fours hours at the moment (and hasn’t been touched for awhile…), this bit… was maybe two hours. ArtRage 2.5 and graphics tablet

Model – Aleah Keats Trapped in never land, / Reaching for reality. Series / / / / Taken using 70-300mm on b&w settingof my Sony A200. 1/30 F 6.8. Colour antiqued, faded and cooled in iphoto, vignette added. Natural light through skylight in garage. Aleah wore some eye makeup to darken, and lipstick for same effect.

A Maori Legend: Hine-pokohu was known as the Sky Mist Woman. She had a sister Mine-Wai, The rain (specifically the rain when it falls in foggy weather) who dwelt with her in the sky. Sky Mist woman fell in love with a mortal man and at Night, she decended to earth to vist her lover in secrecy. At dawn, her sister would call out to warn them that daylight was coming and they must return home least anyone suspect. Sky Mist Woman and her sister would return to the sky untill usk fell and they had dominion over the earth. Sky Mist Woman warned her lover never to tell anyone of their trysts, but he did. Betrayed and Weeping tears of sorrow she never returned to him. He searched and searched the valleys and mountains for her, untill he died. After his death he became the rainbow that accompanies the mist, joined for enternity. Resources: / Model by Marcus j.
