Lainers the Happy Lil Dead Girl by Paul Rees-Jones She floats around the light, / That shining orb so bright. She knows its ringing call, / But doesn’t want it at all. Skin so white, cheeks pink and red, / Content in being the living dead. Her friends are cold, just like her, / Living and playing, just like they were. And oh the joy of pranks and scares, / To those who trespass without cares. Moaning and groaning like a ghost, / Is something she like the most. Flying free, spinning in a whirl, / Lainers the happy lil dead girl.

He works alone almost everyday, / Well not alone, cause his Puppy won’t stay. A lovely pup, always trying to please, / A pup who luckily never gets fleas. So faithful and loyal to that Reaper, / His master, his friend and keeper. A dog is man’s best friend, / But also a boy’s to the end. And Skelly Puppy never has to get fed, / Afterall he’s already dead.

The Reaper by Paul Rees-Jones This is about the Reaper family, / A serious bunch, never too silly. Well, in truth, it’s about one, / One who reaps with a bit of fun. The youngest in the Reaper clan, / Quite a smart, little dead man. He brought a group of playful kids, / To the yard, oh yes he did. And why, you ask, would he save? / Just release them from their graves? When you are a Reaper Grim, / The days are long and awful dim. But to this small little reaper, / Loneliness ran a little deeper. So he made his friendly ghouls, / By breaking about 20 rules. But it’s worth it when the day is done, / Cause this lil Reaper finally has fun!

Molly the Lil Witch, Oscar and Ophelia by Paul Rees-Jones The night was stormy and rather bleak, / Molly was a little bored witchy freak. She mulled over spells and warmed up her cauldron, / To create some friends to end her boredom. She delicately sewed a doll from rags, / Smiling and singing, a rather cute hag. And when she was done she was bright as a star, / Because held in her hands was the rag boy, Oscar. But soon she thought about the little boys heart, / To be all alone when his life just starts. So she borrowed small string of yarn from his hair, / And fashioned Ophelia, a sister to share. A spell and a cloud of nasty green smoke, / And Molly had made two little doll folk.

This is my 3rd and final piece in this series and I believe it closes this chapter yet leaves the door open to endless possibilities. This piece represents the past , present and a greener yet unwritten future. I believe we are all very resilient; can come through hardship and triumph in our unpredictable journey through life…... This is the first full page illustration to the upcoming book ‘The Lighter Side of Dark: Enter the Yard’, coming soon! I know it has taken quite some time to finish these piece, since I am so picky and keep putting it away and bringing it back out later on, but I am very,very proud with how it turned out! :) I hope you all enjoy it so much that you are just chewing your nails, waiting for the book so you can buy it :D
