This was a beautiful place to be – when the children were there is became magical – every door opened wasn’t a garden it was the secret garden and we had to look for lepricorns and fairies and smell every flower and describe every tree.

Once again the light was winning on this spectacular November morning! Taken halfway between Hilversum and Laage Vuursche in the Netherlands on one of the most beautiful cycling paths in the forests around here! Near HIlversum, 14th November 2007, 9.55 am / Nikon D 80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 112 mm / F 16, 1/60, ISO 400 Featured in “Shots in the Fog”.

The Huldra is a creature in Scandanavian Myth that takes on the appearance of a beautiful young woman so it can lure it’s male victims into the forest (with the promise of kinky sex no doubt!) where she devours them.. The Huldra is a shapeshifter and often is in a “inbetween” stage where half of her torso is a hollowed out tree..which she can slip in and out of as need be… Technical stuff for all you PhotoShop geeks – This took approximately 12 hours to do and has 27 layers (several of those layers are “adjustment layers” (especially using “curves”)as well as the usual texture and color overlays..) / All photographs used (model, forest background, tree trunk ,vines, and textures) were shot by me – absolutely no stock images used…

The first step into the forest was the worst step for Seth O’Share / It was a very dark, cold night when this clueless kid ventured in there… / The trouble was he couldn’t see, he had no torch that could be lit, / As soon as he made that first step he fell into a bottomless pit.
