Dam water

  • Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. • Taken at Hume Weir, Albury Australia. Although we have had some rain of late the weir is still very low due to the drought. There are still plenty of dead trees sticking out of the water. The tangled/entwined appearance of this tree got me thinking about how all the elements are linked/entwined.

The road over the dam that keeps the water within the reservoir has some of the most beautiful views in inland Rhode Island. This historic look was acheived by aiming an antique AGFA Clack camera directly into the sun. No digital manipulation was employed. (c) Paul Lavallee 2007 /
