Shot this back in November, 2004, when the grass was much greener, and there was water in the dam. There’s only been water in that dam one other time since then, and it lasted around 6 weeks….this is a nice reminder of what we used to have…. Sold this a number of times pre-redbubble, mostly A3 size, and it won me a $1500 prize from the Brisbane City Council, as well the John Herbert medal at APSCON 2005, and also a number of other smaller prizes. This was sold december 2008 on redbubble as a matted print. This is the second HDR image shot the other day on my girlfriend’s property.. I was inspired to try my hand at an HDR involving a dam after seeing some of the brilliant work here on the Bubble.. I think it turned out well and I liked how the image almost looks as though it is bent if you look at the tree line.. / As always comments are most welcome! Thanks a lot for looking! Ladybower reservoir is a Y shaped reservoir fed by two rivers….the Derwent and the Ashop. This is where the Derwent runs from Derwent dam into Ladybower. / Ladybower is the third and final one of a series of dams down the Derwent Valley. It is the biggest of the three at about 3 miles in length. It was buillt between 1935 and 1943 and then took two years to fill up!! / There was some controversy surrounding the building of the dam….two villages in the valley had to be abandoned and flooded. Ashopton and Derwent villages both disappeared under the reservoir….including the old 17th century Derwent Hall and a number of ancient farms. / Sony Alpha 350, 18-70mm Lens.
Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F11, shutter speed 1/15 second, ISO100, processed in Photoshop On Monday I went for a walk with the dynamic duo of Jason Connolly and Jamie Green near High Dam in the Lake District. The weather was overcast for the first hour but then we were greeted with wonderful autumnal sunshine. This is a view from Stott park overlooking the middle of Windermere. The title refers to Mr Cs annoyance that I got a shot of the bench in sunlight, when he arrived at this spot the sun would not come out….I did not hear the end of it for the rest of the walk…lol!!
