Dawn at Cape Tribulation, Far North Queensland, where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef.
The magnificent Daintree Forest is located in tropical far north Queensland, Australia. This world heritage listed forest is over 135 million years old – the oldest in the world and spans 1,200 square kilometres. It is home to the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened with extinction anywhere in the world. It surely is the most diverse and beautiful example of mother nature at its very best. “I walked alone into no man’s land / and with my eyes witnessed the beauty of nature’s hand. / Green veils of leaves and trees stood tall / Babbling sounds of water and then a bird’s call. / Standing proud surviving all time, / this magnifcent forest forever in its prime! Hope you enjoy my pastel painting using faber castell pencils with some hard pastels drawn on canson paper. This is just a very small part of this tranquil and magical forest. Inspiration for this painting came from my daughter’s photograph called Daintree Bliss which is just one of her many beautiful photos:tracyleephoto“

Meeting point – where the river meets the ocean. This is in far North Queensland where the Daintree River meets the Ocean. It was taken from the Alexandra look out which is found after you get of the river Ferry up a 2.5 Kilometre frightening drive (if you don’t care for heights, sheer drops & winding narrow roads with waterfalls crossing them)!! Well worth it for the view though! To the far right is Port Douglas and further round the coast Cairns. Oliver Creek – Daintree Rainforest at Dusk Fuji Finepix S9500 / 1 sec . F4 . ISO80 Taken while standing (extremely still) on a half-submerged log in Oliver Creek. Since my cable release had packed it in, I had left my tripod behind. So this shot was taken with the camera perched on the log I was standing on, about 200mm above the water level. I took one shot to gauge exposure … then this one.

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery Green Waters – Mossman Gorge World Heritage, Mossman Gorge, Daintree National Park, Far North Queensland. Much of the 56,500ha Mossman Gorge Section of Daintree National Park includes rugged, largely inaccessible slopes of the Main Coast Range and Carbine Tableland, adjoining Mt Windsor and Mt Lewis. It is these steep mountain ranges that trap moisture blown in from the ocean and ensure frequent rainfall, maintaining the rainforest and ultimately feeding the Mossman and Daintree Rivers. Tall, dense rainforests clothe the lowlands and stunted windswept rainforests occupy the mountaintops. To the west of the Main Coast Range, open forest and woodlands grow on the drier western slopes. The park provides a home for a wonderful variety of rainforest animals including tree-kangaroos, musky rat-kangaroos and Boyd’s forest dragons. Over millions of years, the Mossman River has carved a steep-sided valley from the upper reaches to the coastal lowlands. Through this valley, crystal clear water cascades amongst large granite boulders which have been washed down from the hills during times of heavy flood. The Mossman Gorge Section is part of the traditional lands of the Kuku Yalanji people.

The cape was named by British explorer Lt. James Cook on 10 June 1770 after his ship ran aground on a reef near the site, “because here began all our Troubles”. Cape Tribulation is a headland and locality in northern Queensland, Australia 110 km (68 mi) north of Cairns. It is located within the Daintree National Park and the Wet Tropics World Heritage area.

BEST VIEWED LARGE SIZE! / Photo of the beautiful lush forest trees and plants in the light rain, with some sun breaking thru. Very difficult to capture the feeling of being in this fantastic forest, but I think this comes close.
Recently went up to the Tropical North & went walking around Mossman Gorge in the Daintree – one of the most beautiful places i have ever been. The lush rainforests, trickling streams, calm pools, still air….so pure, so serene.

The Daintree River in far Nth Qld allows you to jump onboard one of these boats for some Crocodile viewing in their natural environment. This time of the year is not the best time to see many but it is still very eerie creeping up and down the river. / they are there, you just dont see them.. The Captain of our boat went night fishing 2 days ago and saw 47 crocs with a spotlight. / With so many Crocs in the region it sends a chill down your spine just being around the river.
