Passai (披塞) is the Japanese name of a group of kata practiced in different styles of martial arts, including karate and various Korean martial arts (Taekwondo, Tang Soo Do, Soo Bahk Do). There are several variations of these kata, including Passai sho (minor) and Passai dai (major) . In karate, the kata are known as Passai in Okinawan styles and Bassai in Japanese styles. / The technique shown here is Yama Tsuki (zuki) Mountain Punch.
Two worshippers pass each other by at a Cao Dai temple in Tay Ninh, just 100kms from Ho Chi Minh CIty in Vietnam. There are ceremonies 4 times a day at the temple and it’s a pretty popular tourist attraction. Taken with a Canon 400D and 50mm f1.4 lens. Also experimented with a Lens Blur effect in Photoshop. Tōdai-ji. Nara, Japan. / Tōdai-ji (Eastern Great Temple) is a Buddhist temple complex located in the city of Nara, Japan. Its Great Buddha Hall, the largest wooden building in the world, houses the world’s largest statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu. The temple also serves as the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism. The temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site as “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”, together with seven other sites including temples, shrines and places in the city of Nara. Sika deer, regarded as messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion, roam the grounds freely. /

The Shuho-do cavern in Yamaguchi is the biggest limestone cave in Japan, and the second biggest in Asia. Inside is a spectacular display of colours and patterns reflected from the walls and from the water that flows through the cavern.
Cao is a mixture of confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. At the time of this “Mass” we observed the Taoism leader had died so there was just the Confucianism (red) and Buddhism (yellow) leaders present.

Cao Dai reglion exists in Mekong Delta area of Vietnam. A mixture of beliefs that can be roughly translated as ” if God built Disneyland, this is what it would look like!”

This Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly was on a Dais Continifolia (aka Pompom, Kannabast, Pincushion or Speldekussing) tree. The Dais is recognized as tough enough to be used as a street tree and small enough to fit into most gardens. This swallowtail was is loving this flower and I call this photograph “Summer Fare”.
