The Glencoe Lochan is always a beautiful tranquil spot. This image was taken during Easter when the daffodils were open, which add a splash of colour in the foreground before your eyes are drawn down the length of the Lochan.

This particular daffy stood out for me in the original photo, he seemed to be reaching for an extra share of sunlight over his buddies. Thanks to young Merv at Camera Club tonight, I finally figured out how to make it look the way I wanted it to. The Daffodil is a remarkably designed flower. There is no other flower similar to it. If only they would last longer in the garden. We can enjoy them for only about two weeks a year. / /

The Daffodils / I wandered lonely as a cloud / That floats on high o’er vales and hills, / When all at once I saw a crowd, / A host, of golden daffodils; / Beside the lake, beneath the trees, / Fluttering and dancing in the breeze. / Continuous as the stars that shine / And twinkle on the milky way, / They stretched in never-ending line / Along the margin of a bay: / Ten thousand saw I at a glance, / Tossing their heads in sprightly dance. / The waves beside them danced; but they / Out-did the sparkling waves in glee: / A poet could not but be gay, / In such a jocund company: / I gazed – and gazed – but little thought / What wealth the show to me had brought: / For oft, when on my couch I lie / In vacant or in pensive mood, / They flash upon that inward eye / Which is the bliss of solitude; / And then my heart with pleasure fills, / And dances with the daffodils. William Wordsworth 1770 – 1850 My father used to read me poems as a bedtime story! This was one of my favourites! It brings back so many happy memories! /

Must be footy finals fever – looking at the ‘body language’ of these daffodils just brings to mind an Aussie Rules footballer taking a spectacular mark, or specky, on the backs of his opponents.
