Sometimes we are lucky to bear witness to some of life’s golden moments; A baby’s first steps, a proposal, a reuninon between friends… or a child’s first touch of snow. This was their moment – hopefully one of many. And I was lucky enough to be at the right place, at the right time, to capture that moment. Lady luck must’ve smiled to me on that day.
One of my favourite portraits of my Dad, doing what he loves more then anything else in the world fishing. If he could he’d spend every day fishing, as it is he sometimes wets a line three or four times a day. On this occasion I decided to get up early and document him enjoying his sport. This is the result, it has special sentimental value to me, but I felt like sharing it as something different to what I’ve been posting recently.
Me and my daughter Melanie in her teens, battling it out. Took the shot myself with the camera on self timer. Just told her to yell as loud as she could. It was scary how natural this came to her. Raising a daughter, especially through her teens, is about as emotionally draining as it gets. I knew support groups were available, but I opted for the mental scars… time will tell if that was the right path!!
Here is a captured greeting between my younger son and my hubby who’s just returned home from work.
Here are my boys and hubby checking out the clouds before a storm.

Here I have captured my hubby watching the children while they play in the water during a sunset.

Piaggio was founded in Genoa in 1884 by twenty-year-old Rinaldo Piaggio. It took shape thanks to the successful co-operation of the aeronautical engineer and inventor Corradino D’Ascanio (1891-1981). Desmond John Spittall / 28.09.51-24.03.08 The original photograph of me and my dad was taken by my mum Liz Spittall when i was young (obviously), on our farm in Currumbin Valley. I treated it in PS to create an image i feel reflects us, as me and dad were quite similar. / I wanted to share this with the Bubble community as perhaps there can be some healing in sharing? This is a short-story/open letter of a sort. It marks my first completed attempt at writing about a subject I have struggled with for many years. Thank you Bell for the inspiration. And thanks to those of you who read it, because my Dad always wanted everyone to read. Dad, this is for you.
Here (again) is my little girl and my hubby.. He was carrying her because she wanted cuddles as she was cold..
“Gift of Love” is the English Translation from Hawaiian. I have photographed this family for many years as they grow and expand; three generations of loving images. The father is a working ranch hand on Maui’s large Ka’ono’ulu Ranch. Yes, a real Hawaiian cowboy—known here as a paniolo. Funny story: I submitted this image to iStockphoto knowing its value in stock would be huge. Well, like most of my submissions, it was rejected. This time they called it PORNOGRAPHY!!!! I almost had to laugh…. and cry. Well, at this point I am glad it it not in the public domain as stock. I’ll wait for the perfect client to come along and do this image proud!

I love photographing my Father. There’s a lot of character to be captured in someone who’s lived for 70 years. / We all went to a local airshow today, & Dad I were drawn to the classic & vintage cars that were on display. / This one’s a ‘48 Ford Prefect. / Two classics full of character…. Here is a re-worked image of my little girl and my husband which was on RB a while ago.. I keep coming back to it so finally decided to play with it and here it is… I originally had this image in colour but got some great advice from a fellow bubbler to try it in b&w so I did…... This image was taken when my little girl fell over on the rocks and hurt her knees and her daddy gave her a piggy back to the car before the storm came.
