Sometimes we are lucky to bear witness to some of life’s golden moments; A baby’s first steps, a proposal, a reuninon between friends… or a child’s first touch of snow. This was their moment – hopefully one of many. And I was lucky enough to be at the right place, at the right time, to capture that moment. Lady luck must’ve smiled to me on that day.
One of my favourite portraits of my Dad, doing what he loves more then anything else in the world fishing. If he could he’d spend every day fishing, as it is he sometimes wets a line three or four times a day. On this occasion I decided to get up early and document him enjoying his sport. This is the result, it has special sentimental value to me, but I felt like sharing it as something different to what I’ve been posting recently.
This photo was taken of my husband and daughter. I think it’s a fun photo that incorporates the Aussie summer in the afternoon.
Me and my daughter Melanie in her teens, battling it out. Took the shot myself with the camera on self timer. Just told her to yell as loud as she could. It was scary how natural this came to her. Raising a daughter, especially through her teens, is about as emotionally draining as it gets. I knew support groups were available, but I opted for the mental scars… time will tell if that was the right path!!
BUY THIS CARD AND FEEL GOOD FOR WEEKS! Delightful baby welcomes home her parents. Taken in 1996 in Greystones Wicklow. I was taking portrait shots of the baby, she´s my cousins, through the kitchen back door window when the baby just latched herself onto the glass by her tongue and almost magnetically began to rise up the window frame. I could hardly take the picture for laughter. 3393 views / 125 favouritings / 166 comments / 4 sales C’mon Guys and Girls buy a baby today!! They will fly up to 50 kilometers, (31 miles), to find food and even develop a flight pattern that they follow everyday. During the winter seasons when the food is scarce they will eat fruits that are laid out for them by people. At the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary in Queensland, the visitors are asked to hold food out for the birds when they arrive in groups of hundreds at around 4pm. They will perch on people’s arms and heads to be fed. Rainbow Lorikeets make very good pets because they can be tamed so easily and have a fun natured temperament.

This is a short-story/open letter of a sort. It marks my first completed attempt at writing about a subject I have struggled with for many years. Thank you Bell for the inspiration. And thanks to those of you who read it, because my Dad always wanted everyone to read. Dad, this is for you.
Here (again) is my little girl and my hubby.. He was carrying her because she wanted cuddles as she was cold..

MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD / Best viewed large. / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group COUNTRY ROADS/AROUND THE WORLD / / / / “MY FAVORITE COUNTRY ROAD” was featured in the group NATURAL COLOR AND LIGHT / / / This is a recent photo of my favorite country road! It is located in Flatwoods, Kentucky, in Greenup County, which lies in the northeastern part of the bluegrass state. Many of my relatives live in or just outside of Flatwoods, and my Dad built this one. / / The scenery from this road is almost surreal, it is so beautiful. Surrounding this road are country farms, barns and old churches. This road winds around a gorgeous mountain cloaked with a variety of lush trees and evergreens, whose leaves are radiant in the Fall of the year with brilliant shades of yellow, orange, red, brown and green. / / At the top of the mountain is the end of this magnificent road, which leads to a private, gated mansion that overlooks the entire county. It is very quiet and peaceful there, and everything, including time, seems to stand still on this beautiful road. It is a breath-taking view from the very top, and this is truly my favorite country road!.. / / / To read and learn more about this special country road, / go to:COUNTRY ROAD

Featured In: / -Nostalgic Art And Photography / -Layered With Texture My father had an uncle whose hobby was photography and when Dad was 14, his uncle began to teach him how to develop photos in the bathroom that served as their makeshift darkroom. By the time I was born, he had really become quite a good photographer and my childhood and teen years are filled with memories of seeing Dad with his camera or the smells of the chemicals in the darkroom he built in our basement. During the 1950’s he used this Rolleiflex. He had other cameras later and copious amounts of equipment but it’s always this camera I think of when I remember my father’s love of photography…..probably because he was busy sticking it in my face from the moment I was born! :-) On the leather case you can see the silver oval. At that point in his life, Dad was a photo engraver so he had the tools to engrave his initials on that oval. The light meter in the foreground is one he used for years. When he wasn’t sticking that in my face or my brother’s it was always fastened to his belt. Oh….the girl in the picture is me. That was when I was three and I was holding the leather camera case and ‘taking pictures’ just like my Dad….who is, of course, the fellow on the left.
