I love the Vitruvian Man…and, thinking about how it is supposed to illustrate human proportions, and how sumotori are considered very handsome men (by some :P), I came up with this. Works on any color, two versions, hope you like it. P.S. he got hungry while posing in that difficult stance, so he is imagining a nice meal consisting of rice and…candy???!! weird! the text reads as flavour, aroma, smell. or something:)

For the past week or so I have been in a real deep funk. Won’t go as far as saying depressed but overwhelmed by the feeling of unhappiness. I sketched this out last night about midnight and felt that it was worth throwing up here. I wanted to capture how I’ve been feeling and this happened to pop out. No preconceived idea of what I was aiming for and was at the will of my subconscious. As you see in the image, I am gripping onto one of the only things that make me happy, and no matter how hard I squeeze, it still feels like it is slipping away. What IT is, is not important, because it can be anything that brings you any kind of joy. And as you see, without that happiness and that “constant”, I am nothing. Along with my happiness I myself begin to slip away into the darkness, hoping to meet my happiness at the bottom.

I had the opportunity to visit The Tech Museum / in San Jose, California with my daughters class today. / The main exhibit currently is about Leonardo da Vinci and his fabulous inventions. (And inventions that never became reality) / What an adventure it was. An amazing man, I wish I could have met. / This picture is from a wall sculpture that was large and impressive. / The lighting was gorgeous. / You must make a visit if you happen in California /

since it looks like the rain around here seems to have set in for the durataion… I’ve been amusing myself making some tee shirt designs… this one is a collaboration between myself and Rex Inkpen and it’s based on his very fine short story The Rollicking Night and it’s for a Skullduggery challenge collaboration between the Flash Fiction group and the Tee Shirt Revolution group. What I really like about Rex’s story is the ambigous time frame that it’s set in…. the smokey taven where the action happens could be contemporary or it could be set five hundred years ago so I though this very old classical pencil sketch was the perfect vechicle for dressing up with a pair of mirrored sunglasses…. what you see in life is often ambigous and not what it seems to be at first glance….. so here is a contemporary take on the skullduggery of the uber cool mirrored sunnies and what may or may not be found behind them….
