Leonardo Da Vinci was certainly a man ahead of his time.From The Last Supper,his wonderful statues and studies,his inventions and most famously The Mona Lisa are a testament of his genious.Its amazing that such a tiny painting(and heavily guarded) has left such an imprint on Society and the art world.While reading earlier the history on Da Vinci,i couldn’t help wondering if it will be remembered further into the Future…...You may notice the backdrop is similar ,with some unique additions.A flying ship(a design forerunner to the helicopter) is based on one of his designs which i tweaked for this,just for fun! / I had a lot of fun drawing this,the face keeping Mona’s serene look and most importantly the hands which i wanted to emulate and with a slight twist.She has a slight casual appearance too,note the leg up.I hope u enjoy my future take of Mona Lisa…1000 years in the making! / This is a combination of pen,pencil and Marker

Pen and ink drawing with an added wash of Guinness Stout. Crescent hot press watercolor board, 100% rag, acid-free, 140 lb watercolor sheet mounted to triple-thick board. It eliminates the need for restretching, used to support the wet media. This drawing was a commission for the Boston pub band “The Gobshites”. They will use the drawing as cover art for their new cd “Songs Me Da Got Pissed To”. The portraits onn the wall are JFK and the band leader’s “Da”. I developed the technique for painting with stout after I spilled a drop of Guinness on my sketchbook while sketching session musicians at a local Irish pub. After having so much fun with the last piece, I decided to try a series of em. I have an idea, but won’t let it out until I’m sure it will work =D This piece is focused on the ability to open up. Being vulnerable to the outside without fear or worry. My creative juices have been flowing since that week of downtime and in a way my mind has opened a little more for me to see inside and to let you see a little deeper. Only in this state of vulnerability can I truly be free, and without limitation on what I do or how I go about doing it.

The photo was taken in Favela da Rocinha, the largest in the area. Rochina is characterised by Irregular, random, self-constructed houses with tijolos (bricks in portuguese) symbolizes the most what meets the eye at the favelas. The title was taken from the movie Cidade de Deus (City of God), 2002.
