We will be going to a most lovely spot next week for a photoshoot…... and I wanted to share a few i have taken of the magical atmosphere of a swamp ….... 6 mile Cypress slough , Fort Myers, Florida Sony DSC Cybershot H 7 One of the largest tree in North America east of the Rockies (Dennis 1988). Several large cypress trees and swamps are in Florida and can be viewed and experienced by boardwalks, rivers, and trails. The Florida state champion cypress, called the Senator tree, is located in Big Tree Park near Longwood.

The great egrets are nesting at Lake Martin, Cypress Island, Louisiana, in St. Martin Parish. This one is gathering sticks for its nest. About 5000 pairs of wading birds are occupying the rookery at this time so it’s quite a sight to see the magnificent displays of plumage from a wide variety of waterfowl in that area. It takes skill and agility for these long-legged birds to walk along slender branches in search of twigs; it’s a balancing act which results in fluttering wings to maintain steadiness as in evident in this image.
