It seems like swans participate in sports days too, but the swan in the foreground seemed totally oblivious, despite all the honking. The swan in the centre just managed to stop in time to avoid disaster.

Black Swan (Cygnus atratus)

This little family unit of Cygnus atratus (Black Swans) on parade was photographed in the Belmore River Wetlands, east of Kempsey, NSW, Australia, on an early spring morning under grey skies. In the background are many native ducks feeding and in the near background a very large feral domestic goose. Three of us from my camera club had driven up from Port Macquarie to Kempsey to visit another mate who had recently move house. We toured his new home, drank his tea and coffee, ate his biscuits, said “hello” to his wife them kidnapped him for the morning for a tour of the wetlands and the surrounding countryside. S great time had by all. Fuji S9600: Fujinon 28-300mm lens, 1/250sec @ f/4.9, Manual Focus, full zoom, hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3 with minimal tweaks.
