this is one of my samurai fungi, from clan cort! doesn’t look too happy, and possibly in a bit of pain ;)... another story i intend to do, have already done a few 4-5 page stories on them… they’ve come a loooong way since i 1st started on them… originally they didn’t have leg, and whereas they looked like mushrooms, they didn’t resemble real mushrooms…

finally… the revamping of my long loved char, kangarookid! a little younger in the years than i 1st drew him all those many yrs ago (10, i think), but at some point, i did give him a younger appearance… for those not in the know, kangarookid is me fro a dream i had that was… well, to put it bluntly… bizarre… it involved a baseball game that was hosted by a talking radio… i ended up drawing the dream as a comic short about 8 yrs ago… i also got my samurai fungi from the same dream =]... okay, i’m rambling!

New portrait of Battlestar Galactica character Cylon 6 – the 6th generation autonomous cybernetic organism, portrayed by actress Tricia Helfer. I wanted a new take on the stylized screen goddess, and had recently discovered the Battlestar series. Several of the characters faces struck me as having that epic dramatic quality. I’m not sure if Helfer has had deep training as a Ben Geserit witch, years of ballet practice, or perhaps a strong shakespearean theatre apprenticeship, but one senses a discipline of craft underneath the beautiful exterior… some of the same quality Ive admired in Michelle Yeoh, Martin Csokas and other actors with that strong onscreen presence. Painted with a somewhat camp pop aesthetic in a very traditional layered manner in oil on canvas. dimensions around 45×35cm. Yet another in the Dubstep Samurai series… this will be up around Wellington soon, with event text! Drawn by hand with an 8b pencil and my homemade Indian Ink pen, then taken into Photoshop for some colour and cleaning up the linework. MAN I’d love a new wacom/mac, I spent most of my time on this one watching a rotating beach ball of doom!! Hmmm…
