Golden Lion Tamarins from South America are classified as Endangered. / By 1965 numbers were so low that the Poco das Antas Reserve was established in 1975 in an attempt to protect them. Marwell Zoo is now part of the Tamarin Conservation Programme and several pairs from the zoo have been reintroduced to the wild near the Reserve and are breeding successfully. / Visit www.marwell.org.uk This, I think, is one of my best cutouts. I love the golden colour – these little fellas are just so full of life and energy – they are terrific fun to be around. I think one of these days I’ll have to spend a whole afternoon in their enclosure (it’s a walk through) and sit with a tripod. It’ll be interesting to see what they make of me!
Quite a subtle cutout this one, I think. I wanted this shot to play with the nature of reality a bit – in that the more vivid and colourful world is contained within the reflection while the “real” world is aged and monochrome. Analyse that! ;-D This sculpture can be found at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight
If you are interested in any variations in, colour, size, positioning, etc. Just let me know…
A still-life experiment with a favourite porcelain jar and some delicate dried flowers.
The original was ink on handmade paper
Acrylic inks on hand made paper. This was based on a drawing by my son which I liked.

A black and white photograph of a beautiful cat, where the eyes are ‘cutout’ and piercing green
Bear silhouettes.
If your cutouts have edges that look rough and missing bits, or have some of the background included, this tutorial is for you.
Working with DolphinDancer I wrote this step-by-step look at the photoshop tools, and how to use them, to achieve smooth and “feathered” edges in cutting out part of a picture. Uses Photoshop Elements 6… yes that’s the cheap one :)

My entry into the Cut and Paste challenge at A T-shirt Revolution. I cut out the letters from magazines and stuck them to a piece of paper; then scanned it in; adjusted the contrast and levels a wee bit and then did a clipping path round the words. Detail / Original /
