My little girl..
Ink, pencil & watercolour on Fabriano Tiepolo paper.
Cusco, Peru’ ! / While walking in Cusco a few days ago I met this little girl, Flor, and her sister Yolanda ! I had already taken a picture of them last year ” Flor y Yolanda ” and when I showed them a copy of the photo.. they were so impressed that they asked me to take more pictures. This is just one of the many I took ! She is so confident and loves to be photographed !!! I love this picture for the way she poses here, the way she smiles, her spontaneity.. and the beautiful contrast of colors !!!

Acrylic On Canvas She’s always in this mood, noboby knows why and when it started. Maggie wears this wherever she goes, well, except to school. Her ambition: To fight for the rights of stray cats and be the greatest cat diva who ever lived. You can view and buy my “In The Mood For Cat” creations at my Zazzle gallery:
Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

/ / “Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)
/ / Little Cleopatra is a drawing .. I’ve used a few different pencils, lead and coloured, as well as charcoal, and some coloured marker pens, along with black marker pen and black ink to colour in the large hair area. I’ve also coloured much of this digitally. /
/ Antique Kisses – a pencil drawing on textured paper, coloured digitally – a nice alternative card for the Christmas season and all other occasions / / The Golden Elephant another of my big eyed girl paintings
/ Girls Night Out / variation on the theme / Powder Room / third variation in the series of 3 Media pencil drawing coloured digitally, background created fro the original sepia drawing to resemble cork a little legend who wears peacock feathers in her hair…i wonder what her story is…i bet it’s fascinating….perhaps there’s a little bit of you and a little bit of me in her….i’d like to think so. art as therapy….definitely, this piece was therapeutic…... i was lost in 3 hours of whimsy when i created this between 11pm and 2am this morning…. it so pleased me to use peacock feathers, we have had a vase of them in mum’s house from as long back as i can remember…and below you will see a little picture of my mum when she was a little girl posing for a photo with her peacock feather fan…i have always loved this picture of my mum. From what I understand she is on her way to a dance, all dressed up in kimono as a dear little geisha… a red haired one with curls to die for…mum i hope you like this….dedicated to you with love … xxx So you see, that kimonos, peacock feathers and the love of beautiful adornments have been intriguing me my whole life, my mum is so creative and sews beautifully, and used to make a dresses for herself and me, she would be sure to purchase extra fabric to make me a little dress in a different style to hers, to bond us closer as mother and daughter…what a lovely thought / / My mum Sal with her peacock feather fan dressed up in kimono
\ / / Fancy Dress – a mixed media drawing and collage on calico fabric. Her face and arms are the only things drawn, using coloured pencils, pastels, watercolour crayons, marker pens. Her wings are fashioned from tiny white leaf veins The dress and her hair are crafted from felt, the trims are bits and pieces, such as lace, feathers, tiny white pebbles for the necklace and wooden shapes for her shoes peeping out. She has then been enhanced digitally, and this changed the creamy calico to a pink/salmon satin look which i was quite taken with. Christine my friend has inspired me yet again, with all the wonderful magazines she’s just given me, and my old love for cloth dolls has resurfaced…so much so that i tried to recreate a fashionable vintage cloth doll (without all the sewing) and so, i have simply layed one piece over another and carefully transferred it to where i could photograph it and then work on the rest in photoshop. I wasn’t going to load anything new prior to Christmas as thought i’d be fully immersed in family outings and such, but it’s turned out they’ve given me some lovely time to myself and spoiled me rotten….bringing me lunch in the studio and doing all my chores so i can draw! What a delightful little family I have :)
