  • My response to In Praise of Shadows is to share some monster love. This is my first t-shirt so I hope you like it.

  • Scratch, our Siamese, photographed with what would on a normal day be his dinner. Birds were shot at a local pet store and added in Photoshop. As the birds were photoraphed in cages, the bars they were behind had to be cloned out, and this took a lot of time and patience. Addition of shadows and direction of lighting effects were important factors to getting the image to look realistic.

  • Made this in tribute to my favourite Facebook group – how postmodern can you get? (And yes, there’s a sneaky © next to the Disney typeface.)

  • This little buddy likes to party!!

  • its so cute but still wants to kill you

  • When he’s cute, he’s very cute. When he’s scampish, he’s very scampish. The joys of owning Bengals.

  • mikoto’s Daruma Doll someone asked me at my stall at Paddington Markets about the meaning behind the skull logo. I talked to them about how I wanted to achieve a balance between cuteness and evil/cheeckyness in all of the mikoto designs. Having the skull and cross bones with love heart eyes and a cute smile symbolized that. I also talked about how having one eye coloured related to the Japanese Daruma Doll. The Daruma is a Japanese doll that is sold near Buddhist temples all throughout Japan. It symbolises optimism, persistence, and strong determination because of its ability to be tilted to one side and always return to the upright position. The doll’s eyes only contain the color white. Using black ink, you fill in a single eye while thinking of a wish. If the wish comes true, the second eye is then filled in. When I designed the logo I made one eye black with the Daruma Doll and a wish in mind. The mikoto logo is representative of a personal Daruma. It holds a wish that I hope one day Ill achieve, and represents the qualities I need to possess to make it happen. hopefully, my goals will one day come true, and Ill be able to colour in both eyes. thanks for taking the time to meet mikoto’s Daruma Doll scotty

  • More elephants here / This shirt is also available as a greeting card / ...and they never forget.

  • Met these two chaps on a dreadfully cold day in the Cotswolds on my last trip to England. No idea on the species but they sure do look a pair of characters. UPDATE: Finally got around to discovering the origin of these funny fellows. Seems they are used to warmer weather ...... Brazillian weather in fact. This is the Guira Cuckoo. One of the most common birds found in Bazil. They usually look much smoother than this so I can only assume that I caught this likely looking pair when they were puffed up against the cold. regards, Graham

  • Also available in a coloured version for those who prefer their birds green:

  • A penguin and his shadow. update: This lone penguin had just returned from a swim (hence the beads of water on his chest and tummy) Boulders Beach, South Africa. Cheers.

  • East Greenbush, NY USA / Olympus E510 / The Megachilidae are a cosmopolitan family of (mostly) solitary bees whose pollen-carrying structure (called a scopa) is restricted to the ventral surface of the abdomen (rather than mostly or exclusively on the hind legs as in other bee families). Megachilid genera are most commonly known as mason bees and leafcutter bees, reflecting the materials they build their nest cells from (soil or leaves, respectively); a few collect plant or animal hairs and fibers, and are called carder bees. All species feed on nectar and pollen, but a few are cleptoparasites (informally called “cuckoo bees”), feeding on pollen collected by other megachilid bees. Parasitic species do not possess a scopa. The brightly colored scopa leads to a colloquial name used occasionally in North America – “Jelly-belly bees.” Megachilid bees are among the world’s most efficient pollinators because of their energetic swimming-like motion in the reproductive structures of flowers, which moves pollen, as needed for pollination. Ironically, one of the reasons they are efficient pollinators is their frequency of visits to plants, but this is because they are extremely inefficient at gathering pollen; compared to all other bee families, megachilids require on average nearly ten times as many trips to flowers to gather sufficient resources to provision a single brood cell. / North America has many native megachilid species, but Alfalfa leafcutter bees (Megachile rotundata) are an imported species used for pollination. The most significant native species is Osmia lignaria (the “Orchard Mason Bee” or “Blue Orchard Bee”), which is sold commercially for use in orchard crop pollination, and which can be attracted to nest in wooden blocks with holes drilled in them (which are also sold commercially for this purpose). • A metaphorical representation of when one feels an attraction that they know is wrong, doomed, and futile, where the only certainty is that someone is going to get hurt, where the allure is so compelling that all sensible judgment is ignored… Pictured is a Naïve little bomb that has unexpectedly spotted a naked flame. It’s eyes are transfixed on the burning glow and the wick has begun to instinctively move towards it…....... What next??? Scotty (。◕‿‿◕。)
