  • This is from a series I produced a few years ago in my homemade, primitive yet functional darkroom. Sadly, my enlarger now lives in the bottom of a cupboard :(

  • Old railway tanker, captured in the early morning.

  • We were vacationing in Iran and there were these mausoleums and tombs in tribute to great poets, architecture reminiscent of old Islam and gorgeous tiles and organic paintings on the walls. This shot was almost unintentional, I noticed the light and the shadows and just took the shot, this one shot. I didn’t even look at it on the digital screen of my camera, there was so much beauty around me I didn’t want to waste time, I didn’t want to miss anything. I didn’t see this shot again till I uploaded the pictures onto my laptop. This picture is a reminder of the beauty of Iran.

  • On my way home from the city wanted to capture the S curve in the Monash Freeway near East Malvern setup the tripod and aimed the camera through this bloody annoying fence, it was too high for my tripod so i had to zoom in a bit to miss the pailings. Architect: Frank Gerhy. note: home page feature 9/22/08 Sold on April 4, 2009 as a large laminated print on black. / Sold on June 2, 2009 as medium framed (black/flat) print on bright white matt. / Pair with… / and… / / / NOTE: Crossroads was nominated to the Pay It Forward group by Geoff Coleman and here is what he had to say: “There is an effortless grace and perfection in Julian Escardo’s architectural compositions that make him, by far and away, the best photographer of line and form I’ve come across anywhere. It’s a rare thing for an artist to add value to another artist’s work but that is what Julian does in his images of architect Frank Gehry’s buildings such as Crossroads.” I am grateful for this as I am to be your contact Geoff – I also am (and have been for some time) a keen enthusiast of your work, thank you!
