  • This is from a series I produced a few years ago in my homemade, primitive, yet functional darkroom. Sadly, my enlarger now lives in the bottom of a cupboard :( Untouched photograph. Best viewed LARGE

  • Urban cityscape as viewed from the observation deck of the Shinjuku government tower (the south one, I think) in Tokyo, Japan. (Admission is free to both towers’ observation decks, so if you’re ever in Shinjuku, bear that in mind. Bear in mind also that your chances of the weather being clear enough to see Mt Fuji are cripplingly small. I certainly didn’t see it!) Anyway, back to the shot: I like it, it’s pretty cool, and I just adore Tokyo; but I was really, REALLY surprised when it won the October pentaxforums forum challenge poll, for the theme : “Cityscape” 8)) So in that regard, I guess it is the most ‘popular’ photo I’ve taken, as well as one I like!

  • The magical curves and lines of “The Wave Rock” in Coyote Butes Wilderness Area in Northern Arizona. Sandstone eroded into wild shapes and curves by wind and water over time.

This journal contains the first in a series of tutorials I have written. Each page is A4 size @ 100 dpi for easy printing. There are four pages in all. Just click on the image to download each page as a .jpg file. Note that these tutorials are for private use only and copyright protection is in force. If you would like to upload them to your blog, please bmail me first for permission, do not just assume you have it. Thanks very much, I hope you find them useful, Simone :) Disclaimer Please bare in mind these tutorials are written for those who have very little experience with, or knowledge of Photoshop. They are in no way a definitive guide to using levels and curves, they are however a great starting point for those who are just beginning and feel overwhelmed with the complexities of more advanced tutorials. They are also NOT a substitute for good sound photography skills. They will not magically turn a poorly taken image into a spectacular one, only time, experience, patience and practice with your camera will do that.

  • featured in Abstract Art 11-13-2009 I am getting alot of questions about the rendering time of Incendia! It’s important to know it’s never done so don’t wait for it to finish, you have to stop and check for the detail regularly and save it when you are satisfied with the amount of detail showing! Here’s a little collage, a detail of a very large file, rendered in Incendia 1.3 the first is after a couple hours of rendering, the second after a day, the third after two days and the fourth after three days, as you can see the detail gets more clear all the time. Hope this helps a bit! The new Incendia 1.3 is now available to the public, please check it out and give it a try and if you like it make a donation to get the HighRez version, you won’t regret it, it is BRILLIANT!! Wishing you all a fabulous and creative week! KUS! daisy~’*-

  • Stockton Bight, Port Staphens NSW, Australia / The biggest moving sand dunes in southern hemisphere. This dune looks so soft, so welcoming and at the same time it has strict form and direction. For me it looks like a frozen wave, leading you forward… to the clouds. Currently 289 views.
