  • If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? -Shakespeare Every year sealers bludgeon seals with clubs and “hakapiks” (clubs with a metal hook on the end), drag conscious seals across the ice floes with boat hooks, and toss dead and dying animals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot because there is no market for their meat. Seals are also shot, but bludgeoning is preferred, because pelt buyers deduct money for every bullet hole in a seal’s skin. Veterinarians who studied a past hunt concluded that the hunters failed to comply with Canada’s basic animal welfare standards and that 42 percent of the seals appeared to have been skinned alive. Despite Canada’s ‘new and improved’ methods being implemented this year, sealers are still slaughtering these pups in the same way they have for previous years. It’s unconscionable. For more information, please visit any of the following websites for first-hand accounts and ways you can help save the seals. • The earth is gushing blood instead of oil. Drilling for oil is causing the earth to bleed.

  • The Pack Charcoal, conte and paint washes on paper loaded into Photoshop and formatted. A work from an exhibition of works on paper entitled Behind the Mask. This is about the street scene and the companionship or ‘mateship’ of the pack. The male pack ignites the tough masculine bravado giving the individual a sense of power and control to the rebellious spirit of youth. An escape into chemical heaven relieves the pain of reality, of crushed ambitions and a feeling of uselessness. Our prisons are full of seemingly lost young males led along by the often dangerous pack mentality.

  • Dance to postpone the wellbeing of the planet… the economy comes first / Acrylic on Canvas painting 140×108 cm loaded and digitized in Photoshop Those grey suits are endless and like grubs in the ground they have grubby ways of operating. This is my story. The grey suited corporates dance in tricky ways, there is always a goal and converting you is part of the dance. The plastic smiles and mechanical body gestures dead giveaways, and even if you stand there determined to resist the power of the grey suit hierarchy, your head in an instant can be on the block. Having principles is naïve, understanding the system and working within it takes skill and intelligence. Trying to convince the old grey suits that the value of art to the community is not something that can be measured by the dollar is difficult enough, dreaming that they might understand art’s place in the wellbeing of society is just too much. Art is only decoration for walls isn’t it? The Gallery downstairs in the local government offices was considered to be a waste of space – space that could have been used for more offices and more grey suits pushing around forms and reports in an endless cycle of approvals, rubber stamps, rituals and meetings. The higher the floor level the higher the salary and the bigger the office. Gallery staff on the ground floor were definitely from another planet. What a waste of time & money all those exhibitions are! Who wants to know about other cultures, new mediums, women’s issues, social injustice, consumerism, genetic engineering, environment or nature; why waste time imagining other worlds or reaching out and soothing the human psyche when the state of the economy is more important? It was a rare indeed to see grey haired men in grey suits from upstairs in the Gallery.

  • I love how the water flows along the river Dove in Derbyshire’s Peak District, over the stones and logs that have fallen in and disrupted the smooth stream. I love the colour of the water here and the autumn leaves floating down stream. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll, 28-300mm IS Zoom, f/5.6, shutter 1/8, ISO 200 / Cokin graduated grey ND filter 121

Upper Yosemite Falls is above and not in view. The upper falls drop 1430 feet with the middle cascades adding another 675 feet. The total drop is 2425 feet or 740 meters. / The 5th tallest waterfall in the world. Camera: Canon 5D, Lens: 17-40mm, Aperture: f22 and polarizing filter

  • This is a sunken F4U corsair that sank just off of Oahu Hawaii in 1945 in 100 feet of water. The Pilot tried to make land but had engine failure and had to ditch the plane. / This was quite the challenging dive for myself and the others I was with because of the very strong currents. Contributing factors the full moon the night before and choppy seas that day. / /

  • Isolated rock that resembled like a paradise island in the beautiful and refreshing Moravica river.

  • The Bald River and parts of its watershed are now part of the Bald River Gorge Wilderness, designated as a wilderness area by the U.S. Forest Service in 1984. It is a tributary of the Tellico River located in the Cherokee National Forest south of the Great Smoky Mountain N.P. Bald River Falls is regarded as the most impressive and scenic waterfalls in East Tennessee. According to the water level and, angle that it was shot from, the falls can appear tall or short and wide. It is about 90 ft. high, and caution should be used when exploreing it as several have been injured or died here. Bald River is a wild stream but the Tellico River is stocked with trout April thru September and is renowned for its trout fishing. It is located a short drive off the Cherohala Skyway in Monroe County Tn. To find it drive about 5 an 1/4 miles east of Tellico Plains on SR 165 and turn right onto Tellico River Road just past Oosterneck pullout and drive about another 6 miles. Latitude: 35-19’27’’ N Longitude: 084-10’38’’ W. It is well worth the drive except during a dry spell. Canon Rebel XTi

  • This photograph was taken on the River near Athabaska Falls in Alberta Canada

  • 2009, Oil on Canvas, 16” x 20” Remember the time when you first noticed that there were boys/girls out there? And then, the best part was teasing them just a bit, to make yourself noticed? And then you couldn’t help yourself, and went ahead and turned the faucet on, eliciting just the opposite reaction of what you had first envisioned? Yeah, the sheep has been there, done that, too. Watering things down, that aren’t meant to be watered down generally does not bode well for public relations…

  • Influence of nature. Graceful curves. The wispy lines resambles branches and leaf motif on this piece. Enjoy it!
