And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? -Shakespeare Every year sealers bludgeon seals with clubs and “hakapiks” (clubs with a metal hook on the end), drag conscious seals across the ice floes with boat hooks, and toss dead and dying animals into heaps and leave their carcasses to rot because there is no market for their meat. Seals are also shot, but bludgeoning is preferred, because pelt buyers deduct money for every bullet hole in a seal’s skin. Veterinarians who studied a past hunt concluded that the hunters failed to comply with Canada’s basic animal welfare standards and that 42 percent of the seals appeared to have been skinned alive. Despite Canada’s ‘new and improved’ methods being implemented this year, sealers are still slaughtering these pups in the same way they have for previous years. It’s unconscionable. this is an entry to the Flash Fiction and Tee Shirt Revolutioon design challege. The brief is to make a tee shirt design based on an existing story in the Flash Fiction gallery. My design is based on a short but pithy story by Rex Inkpen called ‘define weird’...... as soon as I read the first line of this wonderful tight little vingette I had the idea for the tee shirt…. hope it makes sense to you guys…. enjoy ….. oh and really… take it up to large view to really see the story…... it’s worth the effort….promise….:)

well… this one is bound to piss someone off. and good. seeing as how there’s really very little left of punk anymore, a little off-pissing is probably sorely needed. / The idea has been bumping around in my head for a while now, the ‘LDN TXTNG’ bit… I finished it and was toying with trying to figure out how to realistically fit an iPhone in there when the ‘rock band’/’guitar hero’ thing struck me. The whole concept is a result of me being (probably too) critical about trendy crap and getting old & cranky on top of it. (I’m reminded of when I was 13 and that old guy telling me that Chuck Berry could play circles around Eddie Van Halen. What a kook!) / I know I’m playing into the whole ‘nothing is real’ bit by blaspheming like this, but the point is more important to me. I’m so tired of the amount of UNreality that we’re fed every day. Just like anyone can be a photographer, anyone can be a ‘rock star’. Though the games don’t seem to include the clap or heroin overdoses. Maybe the 2.0 versions will. / BAH! I’m just ramblin now… and remember kids… don’t forget to LOL! (lol!) here’s the detail / ...and if you want an option… this one is for the purists
