My daughter Racquel Thow (aka the rat or ratfink) is a Lucky Tasmanian girl 14 years old and gets to play with pythns and we have to call this work. She made a feature in the art from the work palce. The photo was taken recently working at the Launceston Tasmania Royal Show / We work for ourselves as snake handlers and it can be a bit hard at times juggling home kids (all five) and animals but it makes for a great day working with animals you love but not many others do. Tiger snakes are a great passion of mine and i have learned a lot about them and i am still learning. / Racquel is holding a Diamond Python (non venomous) snake. Held in honour of Michael Peterson (MP) considered the best surfer of Kirra of all time. Taken from Wikipedia but i cant get the link working: Michael Peterson (born 24 September 1952), known as MP, is an Australian surfer. He was among the best Australian surfers in the early to mid 1970s, noted for his deep tube riding skill, especially at Kirra on the Gold Coast. He was Australian champion in 1972 and 1974 and won many other major surfing competitions. Schizophrenia (only eventually diagnosed) and drugs cut short his career and his surfing became the stuff of legend. Many of the details of Peterson’s life remained obscure until Sean Doherty’s biography MP: The Life of Michael Peterson was published in 2004 (on which this article is primarily based). The 2009 Rip Curl Women’s Pro was held over the Easter Weekend at Bells Beach. Saturday morning was cold, plenty of sea spray to coat my lens with, (I didn’t have a cleaning cloth), but the waves were okay, not huge, but good enough for a contest. I hope this Christmas found you and left you with much joy along with the excitement of a New Year! / A special “Thanks” to each an every one of you who purchased my artwork and apparel for Christmas gifts for your loved ones this year! Thank you to all who purchased my “New Years” greeting cards and I trust everyone had a safe and exciting New Years! There was much for me to be happy for this year as it was my first year back in California and I was able to celebrate with family that I haven’t been able to with in a while. The weather alone was a Christmas gift for me; it was clear and 75 degrees, a Holiday paradise! While it wasn’t a White Christmas it was indeed a Bright Christmas, (literally…I needed sunglasses!) I simply love everything about Christmas. Decorating the tree, the incredible smells, like pine, cinnamon and clove and baked goods. I also adore creating special presents for friends and family and wrapping them up to look irresistible. This is something I share in common with my Grandpa I recently found out, we both go nuts and all out for all Holidays. Give either of us any excuse to celebrate, enjoy seasonal food and decorations and we are all over it! I always make sure to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, carve a pumpkin on Halloween and decorate eggs on Easter…and it doesn’t end there mind you! There is just something so wonderful about getting into the spirit of the season, especially if you are a creator. This new year was just as happy for me. I spent it at home curled up in a blanket watching movies, and made it to the countdown by watching Kill Bill Vol.’s 1. And 2., with homemade popcorn. Aaaah, and that is always a recipe for happiness for this girl. There’s something about a countdown that makes my heart leap. Unfortunately that also happens to me on those late night television sales pitches, there’s just nothing like a ticking down clock to create intensity, luckily, I am aware of this, and can avoid them as to prevent irrational purchasing of useless items! Oh, but on New Years to be counting along with so many others at the same time always brings more than a touch of nostalgia to my heart. Connecting with others is something that will probably always get to me, like the way RedBubble brings so many of us together from so many parts of the world, it’s a beautiful and wonderful thing! / Now that this New Year has arrived with much joy and anticipation from me, it is now time for something new. It’s time for me to clean up and put away all of my Holiday Festivities and move forward into this new year with a clean slate, chalk full of new ideas and creations.
