I have been rewatching “Curb Your Enthusiasm” (season 1) on DVD and having a good laugh. It is written by and stars Larry David; who created Seinfeld with Jerry Seinfeld and wrote a lot of episodes. George Costanza was based on Larry somewhat. / “Curb Your Enthusiasm” is Larry David playing himself and is filmed in a low budget style and improvised to a basic script. It aired on HBO in the USA which is a cable network, so there is swearing and adult concepts not shown on free-to-air networks (USA anyway). / If you enjoyed Seinfeld and the conversations about ‘nothing’, you will like this show. The cast is Larry and his wife Cheryl, Larry’s manager and various friends and family. There are guest appearances by Jason Alexander (George Costanza), Julie Louis-Dreyfuss (Elaine Benis) and others which adds some interest. / A running theme throughout is Larry’s social faux pas’ and the consequences. Another aspect is the clever plotting that brings each episode full circle, a similar technique was used in Seinfeld but here feels less contrived. / Give it a go. You won’t regret it. Its ‘pretty, pret ty, pret ty, pret ty…good’.

For a while there I thought you’d never come around / Glowering down at us, / All standing together, waiting. / Waiting for the cardinal authority to change into a green mandate There are always a few who’ll challenge you, / The young and the hurried. / J-walkers. A couple of indecisive ones totter, cautiously / On the edge. / They look for signs of danger / Look left, look right, look left again. / But resign themselves back to the safety of the curb. And we wait.
