Sold 2 poster prints October 2008 / Am I allowed to do this? Had to do it, While I had to get up at 0245GMT for work and drive my trains, my wife Donna, went on a church walk with the boys as well to Elterwater in the English lake district and she took my pride and joy, only cause I know she has the eye! and she helps me bin the rubbish shots I have taken, she’s learnt from me and yes I was sweating that she took my camera, so this is one of her shots, I processed it in HDR style to get the most detail, I am pretty proud of her, I think she has done a great job of this shot, no cropping whatsoever, well spotted, well I am congratulating her anyway.here’s Donnas shot. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens / /

Taken at sunrise on a very icy morning, it was a full time job just trying to keep my filter clear. The hill is Cat Bell’s probably the most popular hiking hill in the lake district you can usually see the procession of people walking to the summit on most days, but not today at fist light!!!!. / The Island is Derwent island and has a long history, in Elizabethan times(1500) it was occupied by the German miners who lived there for there own safety I think the local land owners were none to happy about the Queen and these mining companies taking all there precious minerals. / In 1770 Joseph Pocklington purchased Derwent Island for £300, known as King Pocky he built the boat house you can see in the shape of a nonconformist chapel with bell tower, there is also a large house in the centre of the island but it obscured from view by the trees. He got his nick name for organising mock battles on the lake.

It is also part of a guided walk with the Voluntary Rangers in the Park. Sometimes, just sometimes reality can exceed all your expectations. The day had been a complete washout with a horrendous storm that seemed to go on forever. Then, just before sunset the storm broke to create one of the most colourful and amazing sunsets I have ever seen. Turned out I was in a great locations as well. Shot on the banks of Derwent Water near Keswick in the English Lake District. Finalist in the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2007
