Rydal Water in the English Lake District. Taken on 28th Jan 2009 with a Sony alpha 350 DSLR / This is one of my most favourite places in the Lakes. It is also part of a guided walk with the Voluntary Rangers in the Park. The walk starts at White Moss Common and goes over Lingmoor Fell and down to Rydal Water and Rydal before turning back towards White Moss on the other side of the water by the old ‘Coffin Route’ by which coffins were transported for burial in Grasmere Church. Am I allowed to do this? Had to do it, While I had to get up at 0245GMT for work and drive my trains, my wife Donna, went on a church walk with the boys as well to Elterwater in the English lake district and she took my pride and joy, only cause I know she has the eye! and she helps me bin the rubbish shots I have taken, she’s learnt from me and yes I was sweating that she took my camera, so this is one of her shots, I processed it in HDR style to get the most detail, I am pretty proud of her, I think she has done a great job of this shot, no cropping whatsoever, well spotted, well I am congratulating her anyway.here’s Donnas shot. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens / /

Taken at sunrise on a very icy morning, it was a full time job just trying to keep my filter clear. The hill is Cat Bell’s probably the most popular hiking hill in the lake district you can usually see the procession of people walking to the summit on most days, but not today at fist light!!!!. / The Island is Derwent island and has a long history, in Elizabethan times(1500) it was occupied by the German miners who lived there for there own safety I think the local land owners were none to happy about the Queen and these mining companies taking all there precious minerals. / In 1770 Joseph Pocklington purchased Derwent Island for £300, known as King Pocky he built the boat house you can see in the shape of a nonconformist chapel with bell tower, there is also a large house in the centre of the island but it obscured from view by the trees. He got his nick name for organising mock battles on the lake.
Went on a Church walk 31st January up the Langdale pikes in the English lake district national park Cumbria England, but unfortunately we didn’t get to the top due to the snow and there were youngsters in the group so weren’t taking any chances there, but had a great day out nevertheless and the light wasn’t bad all day, as I am their official photographer, I get to do all the photos..What a bind.. a joke hehehe. / This was one of the last I took today on our way down. / This was shot looking into the Langdale valley. / 3 shot HDR using monopod so am pretty pleased… /
Shot last year at Buttermere in the English lake district national park. / The small picturesque Church of St James is situated above the village of Buttermere at the junction of Honister and Newlands passes. The original chapel was consecrated in 1507, while the present building dates from 1840, and was restored in 1930. A special feature is the wrought iron ‘Shepherd’s Gate’, at the entry to the porch. There is an antique organ, dated 1820. The East window by Henry Holiday, dated 1893, has Mary, Martha and a cherub head. Wordsworth said ‘A man must be very unsensible who would not be touched at the sight of the chapel of Buttermere’. There is a stone tablet set into the window sill of a south window as a memorial to Alfred Wainwright, the famous walker and author of guidebooks. The window looks out on his favourite place to walk, Haystacks, where at his wish his ashes were scattered. / Shot with a Nikon D70s and 18-70mm lens / 1 shot Raw tonemapped and tidied up in photoshop. /
