The Deventer Street performances are traditionally held during the summer season in Deventer. The Public Theather of 2006 was marked as the festival of the Black Lord and the White Queen where battles between the two groups was the main event on the third day. These battles with dance were to performed during the day and get their climax late in the evening when the two groups cross paths on the Brink Square and battle one another for performance superiority. Of course the Good White Queen wins over the Bad guys at the end. Performances where accompanied by Music and a lot of drum beats by international performace groups.

First time I heard about “Wilis” was when I assisted to a “Giselle” performance. _ that was a long time ago, don´t ask me how much. Then I was told that wilis were the spirits of betrothed girls who died before their wedding night. It´s been said that wilis are unable to rest in their graves because they couldn´t satisfy their passion for dancing when they were alive. Therefore, they gather on the highway at midnight to lure young men and dance them to their death. Brrrr!!!!. The only good thing I can remember is that they must disappear at the break of dawn. (Just kidding; I know wilis are Slavic fairies and that have played important roles in Slavic cultures). / A cinema 4D render and some postwork.

This is a candid photograph of my husband at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center where he often sets up a booth to offer his beautiful Tropical Flowers of Hawai’i photographs for sale during concerts and other special events. That is the flame of a Tiki torch behind him. The warm light is the glow from the torches and the setting sun over Mauna Kahalawai. He is arranging his photographs on his display booth as a group of violinists and other musicians are performing on the outdoor stage. Candid photography is one of my favourite creative expressions. I love capturing the true Aloha spirit and regal countenance of my husband when he is unaware of the lens. Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of hindu deity Vishnu, who was born more than 5000 years ago. Janmashtami is a festival full of joy and gaiety. It celebrates with great pomp and show. Devotees observe fast for the entire day and it is broken after the birth of the Lord at midnight. Only milk and milk products are preferred by them, as these were the favorites of Lord Krishna. On this auspicious day, devotees recite slogans and mantras of Lord Krishna. Another important custom of celebrations is singing of Hindu Bhajans (devotional songs) during the Janmashtami festival. People involve in dance performances that portray the life of Lord Krishna. Krishna Temples are brilliantly decorated with oil lamps and festival celebration continues till early hours of morning. Thousands of devotees visit the temples on Krishna Janmashtami day to get a glimpse of their favorite God in full decoration. Special feasts will be arranged by temple authorities on Janmashtami day for devotees.
