This is a poem from my recently published book, / “God Loves A Riddle: A Small Collection of Poems.” All confusing and affirming. / These poems were written during the most base need survival years in / Boulder, Colorado; while facing 20 year old PTSD flashbacks of the murder of my infant son never before surfaced. / It seems I was piecing my fragmented life together almost as quickly as the puzzle pieces were being thrown at me! Frightenly abstract.

  • Blue
    by Veronica Schultz

Mystery, sadness, and all that is true. / This is the meaning of everything blue. / What else describes oceans, skies, flowers, and souls? ...

I wrote this for a challenge. I haven’t written poetry “on demand” since I was in high school. It was strange for me to sit down and write something on purpose, instead of just writing whatever pops into my head.

I scribbled this on the bus today; / surrounded by three groups of different ethnic origins. / it was sad to see these people trapped in their own destructive lifestyle. • THE JUDGE AND THE JURY
    by MarkezzAckui ...

    Order, Order! / I laugh / in a disorderly case of judgment / Ha,Ha,Ha! / Order,Order!

Words are a very powerful instrument. Through writing we are able to enlighten, encourage, and inspire. Sometimes I have an idea that I want to be viewed as a profound piece of literary art. This is one of those pieces. / I considered what it felt like to be viewed and or judged for whatever reason, and I wanted to create a piece of art that stood out and stood alone. I knew that I would need some help because I didn’t want my voice and perception to be the only one. / What you are reading…or have already read…is a collective voice…..broken down into indivuidual segments. Each voice unique and beautiful in it’s own right. TOGETHER THE VOICES ARE AS LOUD AS THUNDER! THEY ARE THE VOICES OF: / MARKEZZACKUI / RICARDO PEREZ JR / AND / COLORBLIND

  • iPray
    by princessleah

I pray….......for the cultures to unite / I pray….......for the racism to end

Sometimes we start out praying for insignificant things, then we grow up and pray for the important things that mean something to everyone and not just ourselves. Someone up there is listening to all our prayers, let us not lose hope. Featured in LIFELINE – 5th Oct 2009 / Featured in Anger Management – 7th Oct 2009

  • Tanka II - Homecoming Culture Shock
    by Tatum Wulff

A quiet silence / Came floating through my window / Feeling so distant / On this quiet city street / My heart beats in Tokyo

I never experienced a more difficult sense of culture shock, than I have upon returning home to the West after living in Japan for various periods of time. I have traveled plenty, and even had to move a lot as a child, and can therefore adopt to new surroundings quite easily, and at most times with intrigue… but returning to what was once my familiar surroundings, always proved to be a very difficult and painful adjustment. It can be a rather heart wrenching and confusing process to one day wake up in the Western world again, after having been immersed in an entirely different culture on the other side of the world for several months at a time.. / Thank goodness for time, as it seems to be a good cure for many things… and I am finally starting to enjoy living in the West again.
