We had just been talking with some of the patients at the hospital in Goma, DR Congo. Every now and then my friend Rebecca Zachariah would dissapear. She’s a Doctor so I figured she was off to see a patient. Well she was but not just for medical reasons. Bec had bought a whole lot of stuffed toys from home. Squeezed them into her pack somehow. Then during the trip, she would nick off quietly every now and then and present a little child with a furry friend. No fanfare. She didn’t even tell me until half way through the trip. These kids hardly have any clothes and certainly have little food. In the case of this gorgeous little girl the only thing we were sure she had was polio. Well at the very least after we left she had a furry bear as well. And do you think she was going to let go of it? Not in a hurry :) This photo is the November shot in the HEAL Africa calendar. – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Black & white photography – Dog photography – Africa photography / - Beach photography - Monotone photography

The early morning sun streaming through the East window of our bedroom enhanced the warmth of this tender moment between my daughter and her father. She loved Saturday mornings because of the opportunity to snuggle up closer to her father when he didn’t have to leave for work. I relinquished my place in our bed to grab my camera and capture this special time. This picture was taken 10 years ago, and my little girl is now a teenager who still loves to crawl up into her daddy’s lap. On a spiritual note, I have spent many years trying to sort out the “character” of God… His presence in our lives, if He is demanding or compassionate? When I see this picture I understand the heart of a father towards his child and I can believe that I am cherished by our Father in Heaven. Some people believe there is no God. I can understand that too. But to borrow a quote from a favorite movie of mine, (Second Hand Lions) “Sometimes the thing we need most to believe in may or may not be true.” Whatever you choose to believe in, if it is good for your heart, then cling to it with all your might. Surely you are still our Father! Even if Abraham and Jacob would disown us, LORD, you would still be our Father. You are our Redeemer from ages past. / NLT Isaiah 63:16 A tender greeting for a Father’s Day card! / /
This is one of my Guinea Pigs. / He’s a sweet little fellow, and lives together with my other Guinea Pig and four rabbits. For some days I’ve noticed this one is getting slimmer.. so that’s not good.. so I decided to give them all more food than usual, but the other’s were gaining weight and this one wasn’t.. so today I took him on my lap and tried to feed him extra, without the others getting the chance to take away his food. And in the beginning when he was on my lap he looked very scared, his eyes wide open and not wanting to take food from my hand… after a while he became calmer and was eating… / But then he got scared again from some noise he heared… this photo is taken when he was scared… and he looked at me like he was saying: “Get me outta here.. I’m scared woman!” so I cuddled him and then put him back with his friends :) thanks to all who have supported me during this hard time.. unfortunately this little dude lost his battle and went off to guinea-heaven… I put an update in my RB journal this card has had one sale yet =D

Cuddles is a demoniacally possessed homicidal stuffed rabbit who spends four hundred or so years killing children before being made to hunt zombies, werewolves, vampires, mummies, demons and other nasties. At some point before I am dead there will be a comic. I hope. For now, there is apparently a tee shirt bearing his graven image. I think he’d probably be pretty happy about that. NOTE: This is an experiment. Coz it’s a sepia image, it;s only going to be available on colours that sepia makes sense on. :)

This was one of the most heartwarming scenes I’ve ever seen. I almost missed the fact that besides the cat laying on top of the dog, there is also a rat laying on top of the cat! These three animals were the companions of a homeless man. It is so sad that they are all out on the streets, and I have to say that the animals looked more well-fed than the man, and he obviously loves them very much. And the feeling is mutual, because when the man left his spot for a while, those three sweethearts stayed right there waiting for him, despite the fact that there were thousands of people walking by and stopping to look at them. So I would say that they are all very lucky to have each other. San Francisco, CA

WILD & FREE / / Polar bear cubs and mum cuddle-up with each other on an ice floe. / / The sea ice is shrinking at an alarming rate, which has a huge impact for the bears as this is their main hunting ground. More and more bears are being found to have drowned while trying to find the ice, even though they can swim up to sixty miles or so! / / I hope the ice does not completely vanish and that they always have somewhere to hut! The teddy you see in the image has been with me since i was about 10. My father found it at a turn off while driving home and gave it to me and called it ‘turn off’. I have not seen this teddy for years since moving home and starting my own family. My mother recently gave it to one of my girls and as soon as i saw it i remembered who he was. Felt it was only appropriate to use him as a prop and shoot my girl with him. He originally also had a vest and a cowboy style hat.. / My relationship with my father is not good. Never has been and never will be. I guess when he gave me the bear i was still able to be loved by him. Or, he just had no one else to give it to at the time / / canon 40D my website / my blog / / /

Charlie (top with white) and Freddie (bottom orange tabby) have been so close the second we brought home Charlie. Charlie was adopted from a shelter. He was in a cage for 6 months prior to being adopted and when we first brought him home he was afraid to jump. Even after 9 years he still hesitates when he jumps, except when playing with Freddie or chasing our pugs.
