  • And so the fortunate star / does rise high / above the shadow of hiding And so i find The light of me by Leni Kae This piece asks you very simply to find the light within you. It tells of the need to awaken your inner light and find peace in the realization that your hopes and dreams are your guiding force. Remember to find balance between your two sides: the masculine and the feminine, the strong and delicate, and embrace both sides to achieve your vision. • Initially this was a photo of blossoms from a blackberry bush that had blossomed in the Spring of 2007. I shot them, because I was taken by how round and nearly perfect the blossoms where. When I saw the linear array in the photo I thought it would be a pleasant image. The cubism effect is a filter I applied through GIMP. I chose it because it seemed to compliment the roundness of the blossoms.

  • Oil on canvas / Portrait of Johnnie Rotten from sex pistols This portrait is one of my fav’s. There is a story behind it because it is not the first one i have done but the first one i have exhibited. / Back in the art school days this was a project i completed in painting class. I think we had to do a cubist like painting. Being niave then i took it kind of literally and came up with this concept. I was fully into my alternative years and punk and grunge rained supreme so Johnny Rotton seemed like the perfect subject! / The one i did back then was more muted in colours and although i always loved it I knew i’d like to do another with the vibrant colours that i thought suited his persona more. The saftey pins and chains are real and i wanted them on his suit but they looked dicky so put them off to one side as i still wanted them in the painting. I never feel the need to call the painting anymore than ‘Johnnie’ because if you were into that genre you would know who i mean!

  • In the world of felines, it is a widely held belief, that a guilty verdict is always accompanied with sentence of “time served.” When caught in the act, they render a sweet innocent expression; then plead “guilty, yet entitled”. Strings evolved after catching my cat “Tater” gleefully setting up camp in my stash of art supplies. I believe the ball of yarn was the target, but the aerial debris was the bonus. I was mad, but as is par the course, it passed quickly! I used subtle color contrast to illustrate the fine line between innocent and guilty and utilized contemporary cubism to add a cause and effect feel, and bring some connective order to all the chaos. About this piece: / Size: 9×12 / Sub strait: 140 lb Bristol Vellum / Media: Color pencil, and marker / Style: Modern Cubism, abstract, representational / Original Status: available Note: The colored pencil is applied layer upon layer to build up deep, vibrant color saturation an effect similar to the renaissance glazing techniques used by the old masters.

  • A Kitty is quite an industrial creature and always in the loop. This Cat being no exception will use every once of concentration and natural engineering to set up his rouse. Then when all is said and done, he only need wait…and of course ignore any ensuing distraction! Brilliant colors are used to illustrate his obvious High IQ. Cubism seemed the only style capable of illustrating the absurd genius of his stance. About this piece: / Size: 12×16 / Sub strait: 140 lb Bristol Vellum / Media: Color pencil, and marker / Style: Modern Cubism, abstract, representational Note: The colored pencil is applied layer upon layer to build up a deep, vibrant color saturation and effect similar to the renaissance glazing techniques used by the old masters.

  • Fun and colorful the personality of Cats is as varied as the colors known to man. But within every domestic cat lies wildness, cloaked in an attitude of mischievousness and suspicion. They watch, plan, pounce and conquer. The dust bunny, may be a rabbit, and the fly on the wall a bird, it all needs to be investigated and conquered. Cube-A-Kitty is perched upon the cloak of domesticity, and all scattered debris would be wise to keep that in mind. I chose primary colors to emphasize the primal untamed side of cats, and cubism best illustrates the fractured nature of the domestic feline.

  • Oil Painting / The first layer of this painting is in Acrylic, and I experimented with Cubism. Somehow I ended up painting expressionist dancers in South Bank in front of the Cubist coffee drinkers. Painting is so much fun.
