  • A shot of my home’s cellar – mostly unchanged since it was built 150 years ago. I rarely do such texturally based photography, the pealing paint, the aged stippled wood, the old glasswork; all that crumbling stuff, I ended up photographing it on film and digital!

  • The Tragic History Behind These Shots / I just had to revisit the abandoned farmhouse where I shot the image The Tenant / / / / This is a view from the kitchen looking in from the outside… the windows are all beat out of the house and you cannot get to the kitchen from the inside because the floor is unstable and you’ll probably end up in the basement. So I had to improvise and go outside to get this shot. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / More In This Series / / / / / / / / / / / / /

Over this past summer I have been infatuated with a run down farmhouse. It’s condition left much to the imagination. The old farmhouse is about a 2 hour drive from my house and whenever the opportunity arose to photograph it… I came running. I had the opportunity to photograph it 3 times this summer. / / Every time I see the old house my imagination gets going. I took all these images before I knew of its history. / / Well I finally got some confirmation on its history. / / So here it is: / / Originally I thought the history of this house belonged to another house fairly close to this one…. but I was wrong. This old farmhouse used to house a family of 4. The husband had been away for some time (working) and when he had returned home he found his wife in bed with another. His wife ended up taking the children and leaving him. It wasn’t long after this that the husband when downstairs and shot & killed himself. The house had since been boarded up and left to the elements. It is in a very small community so no one wanted to live in the house after the tragic events. / / It is a very tragic story and it just got me thinking that so often we come across these finds and to us they are just great images that stir our imaginations but to some they are tragic memories. I wonder how many more of our shots hold a story. I will not return to this old homestead… somehow it just wouldn’t feel right, now that I know its sad story. / / Here are the images I took of the Farmhouse… / / / / / / / / / / / / / / / /

  • Location: Mussel Point Daly City / Technique: HDR (High Dynamic Range) / . / Featured in Group: / “Northern California Style” – March 8, 2009 / “A Beautiful Blur” – March 8, 2009 / . After watching an episode on the National Geographic channel on earthquakes, I was looking forward to shooting this location. But with bad luck lingering around me that day it sure made it difficult: / 1. Forgot the connecting plate for my ball head so I was about to go “3Podless” / 2. Desperately seeking a Photo shop in Frisco to purchase a new ballhead. / 3. Finding parking in Downtown Frisco was darn near impossible. / 4. Getting lost on my way to my 1st location tested my breaking point. / 5. And last but not least, removing my old ball head to install the new one took well over 30 mins. With the sun setting in the backround my mood for shooting that day was quickly diminishing. Mussel Point is located in Daly City just north of Pacifica along Highway 1. It is where the San Andreas fault line meets land and just runs straight down to Southern Kali.

  • Just picked up this bunch of Granny Smith apples to make an apple pie for Tim (one of his favorites). I even make the crust from scratch. Tim is so spoiled lol.
