  • I took this close-up of Jesus on the cross which was in a very old cemetery and then when I saw these words on a church marquee, “Jesus built a bridge with two boards and three nails,” I added them to the photo. Something to really meditate about!

  • Antique hand carved Christo hanging in a church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. /

  • This painting depicts Christ after the crucifixion being held by Mary. Acrylic on Canvas / 6” x 6” / SOLD

  • Piece Three in my HSC body of work. The series in total is called “Ascendancy” which means domination or influincing figure, but also has connotations to the ascention of Mary in Christianity. Basically what i tried to do was to show how humanity’s expression of faith has changed, evolved, or even stayed the same. “The crucifixion” refers to the death of the ‘sviour’ (no kidding) Compressed Charcoal on Paper / size: approx. 41×56 cms I would like to thank the amazing photographer who allowed me to use his photographs for photo references – on DeviantART, he was AshenMind, though now he has moved on to bigger and brighter pastures, and has his own site – (http://www.a-less.com/) which i highly suggest you take a look at! The piece that i used for this drawing was called ‘Asphyxiate”, which unfortunately i haven’t been able to find since he moved sites. still, thank you so much, your work is simply amazing ^^

  • Original Ink Drawing

  • Life-sized plastic figurines in a Christian theme-park, Argentina. Calvary (Golgotha) is the English-language name given to the site, outside of Ancient Jerusalem’s early 1st century walls, ascribed to Jesus’ alleged crucifixion. Although the significance of the name is lost to modernity, Calvariae Locus in Latin, Κρανιου Τοπος (Kraniou Topos) in Greek, and Gûlgaltâ in Aramaic all denote ‘place of [the] skull.’ Although usage since the sixth century has been to designate Calvary as a mountain, the Gospels call it merely a “place.” The word “calvary” is only found in the King James Version of the English Bible in Luke 23:33. The word “calvary” is not from the original Greek versions, but is a gloss from the Latin Vulgate. / ( Wikipedia )

  • The Angel of the North probably one of the most photographed works of public art in the north of England if not the country as a whole. I felt it required a fresh view and as Easter was fast approaching and the word Angel being Hebrew for messenger I thought an artistic take would be to re-create the crucifixion scene for a modern day audience. This is three images combined to make this scene.

  • After his covert dictatorship as British PM had ended in a bodycount to rival Hitler’s – Tony Blair sought to win back the people with his religious vision,. As a Prme Minister who excelled in messianic speeches and then becoming head of the World faith group Tony had a good start in his vision of world peace, he was very well received considering his deadly past but soon he was abusing his powers again, in 2010 he challenged pope Benedict for the papacy in a live mud-wrestling extravaganza in Vatican square which he lost, he then had a bitter law-suit against Tom Cruise who refused to give up his Scientology crown. Tony tried again and again to spread his good news, going on a televised peace mission to the far-east where he started proclaiming love and equality but the old right-wing demons kept taking over, with UN support he attempted to overthrow Buddhism, appearing drunk at a press conference he totally lost it, calling the Buddha ‘ a fat benefit-cheat’ and ‘ a tree-loving home-wrecker’ angry monks chased Tony from the continent and into obscurity. / Stripped of his faith foundation title and excommunicated from the church Tony slipped into a deep depression, trying to make ends meet by selling CD’s of his old speeches from the back of a van – he was on the brink of a total nervous breakdown. / Then in 2012 with end-time fever gripping the globe, Tony found his opportunity for public adulation in Simon Cowells ‘Messiah factor’, he beat off budding hopefuls from every nation. Wowing the world in the semi-final by parting the English Channel, the huge walls of water then crashed down upon the 50,000 immigrants who ran across the sea bed from France. The bloodthirsty masses went wild for Tony’s sweeping immigration solution and voted him into the final. The final was staged in Jerusalem in a huge fibre-glass and polystyrene copy of Solomons Temple, by then Tony had amassed a huge following of ‘Blairites’ and the world waited to see his final act, it was indeed his final act. / Tony took six hours to pass away but never failed to wow the crowds by introducing the top music acts of the day, even telling political anecdotes between bouts of unconsciousness. His old pal George was by his side and a stream of celebrities all came to pay homage with gifts from eager sponsors, what a day that was. Tony in his last moments was heard whimpering ‘they love me George, they love me’ before giving up the ghost screaming ‘ I am your God’, he had promised a ressurection as New Tony but half-an-hour later he was forgotten in a multimedia whirlwind of subliminal advertising and pounding music, within the hour Elton John released a tribute single called ‘candle in Iraq, it topped the midnight chart-rundown and then sunk as quickly back into a bottomless sea of new music.

  • Crucifixion

  • One of my very first pieces…. I imagine one of the apostles seeing Jesus dying upon the cross—but in reality, I like to think it could be any of us. Peace, Claudia I made this image for a convent of Carmelite sisters that I love dearly… / I’m hoping they can use this in their gift shop.

  • Luke 23:44-46 (King James Version) / “And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all of the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.” Imagine the incredible sorrow that God must have felt, as He watched hopelessly the scene being played out; His own Son’s crucifixion. He was well aware of the necessity for it, but yet, it must have been like watching some horror movie transpire right in front of Him! The saving grace, was that He knew that in 3 days Jesus would be resurrected from the dead! What an amazing mystery this is! This photo was featured in the group, “For the Love of Jesus” on 3-17-09 and also in the group, “Image Writing (2/24)” on 3-17-09. It was again featured on 4-12-09 in the group: “Reaching Out: A Christian Mission”. The image of God the Father, was taken from a website called: ChristianPhotos.net / The stained glass window photo I took at the Basilica of St. Mary’s Church in Minneapolis, MN. I used Magic Photo Editor and 1st downloaded the God the Father photo as the background. I then added the crucifixion photo onto the page and re-sized it. I used Professor Franklin’s Instant Photo Effects to add the writing. /

  • This amazing bloom, almost abstract in its appearance, has a mythical, symbolic story or meaning. The Passion Flower with its various parts is seen as / symbols of Jesus’ scourging, crowning with thorns and crucifixion. The spiraled tendrils, the lash, the central flower column, the pillar where he was tied, the 72 radial filaments are said to represent the Crown of Thorns while he top 3 stigma are the 3 nails and the lower 5 anthers, the 5 wounds. Also, the red stains are reminders of his blood. / / The passion flowers or passion vines (Passiflora) are a genus of about 500 species of flowering plants, the namesakes of the family Passifloraceae. They are mostly vines, with some being shrubs, and a few species being herbaceous. / There is some great information on the botanical details of this unusual but fascinating flower which has a feel of ancient lost worlds about it in Wikipedia . Incidentally, you might be interested to know that I took this photo in Hilary Dougill’s home when she very kindly showed me around her corner of the UK. / Thank you Hilary! • Acrylic on framed canvas. 16”x12”. Commission. This is a copy of Dante’s painting which I was given a print of to work from. I do not know the title of Dante’s original piece. This was a great challenge for me and I struggled with it. The anatomy of Christ is not perfect but slowly I’m learning and growing. Detail / / / /
