This is the flower from the Crown of Thorns plant. So delicate to sit among such treacherous thorns.
More tattoo flash
This was first a 3d image, then it went to Painter X, then to Photoshop, back to PainterX, and then to psp,:) See also The Solar Plexus /

Another classic tattoo design…hand drawn and coloured (including type)
This shot was taken a few years ago at Chipping wild boar park in Lancashire England. The Grey Crowned Crane is about 1 m (3.3 ft) tall and weighs 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs). Its body plumage is mainly grey. The wings are also predominantly white, but contain feathers with a range of colours. The head has a crown of stiff golden feathers. The sides of the face are white, and there is a bright red inflatable throat pouch. The bill is relatively short and grey, and the legs are black. The sexes are similar, although males tend to be slightly larger. Young birds are greyer than adults, with a feathered buff face. Like all cranes, it feeds on insects, reptiles and small mammals. Please view large!
Plus a bee and my Crown Fritillary butterfly. ;) Just a bit of fun with these lovely Japanese Anemone’s at my friend’s garden. ;)
A cool shot of a cool bird residing in Africa.
Adorable Chip the Squirrel visits with his pal Goldie the Butterfly on a lovely day…

The Queen of Hearts. This is for the entry in the Victoriandustrial challenge “Your Fellow Bubbler”...we had to draw a fellow group member. I chose Vicki Yeager When I was sketching out her portrait I had no idea what I wanted to do with it…to Victoriandustrialize, or vickydust her. But I was looking through some tattoo reference photos and saw the roses and thorns…and it came to me. Paint the roses red…the Queen of Hearts. Then I went to Vicki’s profile and read her blurb and saw unicorn. Drew that up and made it a bit like a cameo. I am very very happy with how this came out. 9×12 / Ink.
I dedicate this image to Chris Ewing and the words he recently wrote about a close friend. This is my wife’s claddagh ring that I placed inside a yellow rose outside in the snow. Interestingly, I tried to upload this image before St. Patrick’s Day only to find the file damaged. I have been frustrated with the damaged file for months now. However, after reading Chris’s letter/journal, I looked in a different folder that had smaller files that I submitted to an Art Gallery in Chicago and it opened up completely undamaged. Kind of weird. But I’m glad I found an undamaged file because I have always like this image. Now it’s ready for next year’s St. Paddy’s Day. Hope you like it Chris. Maybe you should buy one for your friend? Some Claddagh ring info from Wikipedia: The Claddagh’s distinctive design features two hands clasping a heart, and usually surmounted by a crown. The elements of this symbol are often said to correspond to the qualities of love (the heart), friendship (the hands), and loyalty (the crown). The expression which was associated with these symbols in the giving of the ring was: “With my hands I give you my heart, and crown it with my love.” Yet, the expression, “Let love and friendship reign forever.” can be found as another meaning for the symbols.

Captured this VERY Big Thistle in one of the fields- as you can see- losing a strand of its purple hair – but there is more to this Thistle than just its brilliant coloured head! Taken with a Fuji A600 Compact Camera-re sized in the free dowload of Photo-Dynamic hdr- and finished in free download of Picasa 3 / / The large base of the Thistle beneath a dead flower.
Had some fun playing around with water drops. And then fine tuned this one with Photoshop and I am quite happy with the outcome. / Let me know what you think! The 5th in the Crown Of Thorns series. Dan came back for more, this time with the blooded palm. Don’t worry, it wasn’t my blood… The image of Dan was layered and filtered and then converted to black and white with the “blood” retaining its colour. I then added this to a texture layer and overlayed it so I could erase part of Dan to blend it in with the texture a little bit more cleanly. All my own pictures.
Sony Alpha 350, Tokina f3.5-4.5 19-35mm Lens 28mm, f4.0 1/10 Sec Exp, ISO 100, Tripod, remote shutter release. I think a fair degree of lunacy is required to decide to do a shoot like this… Please show some appreciation for the fact that shooting these images was SERIOUSLY dangerous…. ;) And – have a look LARGE – the thorns are very very real… (PS – I HATE roses….)
