  • I love the slighlty futuristic appeal of this image. Although it’s just a rooftop carpark it has some amazing shapes ineracting with eachother – I played with the highlight shadows just enough to give the shapes a life of their own.

  • Nice windy night i was surprised how this shot came out.

  • Amur leopard snarling. Captive animal. / / Amur leopard, only 33 are left in the wild, more precious than its weight in 24 karat gold! / / The AMUR leopard is rarely found in cold or high-elevation environments and is best known in its more familiar home in the savannas of Africa, where populations are relatively stable. However, in the northernmost part of its range, a rare subspecies of this cat lives in the temperate forests and harsh winters of the Russian Far East. This is the Amur leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis), also known as the Far East leopard, the Manchurian leopard or the Korean leopard. IUCN’s 2000 Red List of Threatened Species classifies the subspecies as Critically Endangered, and the CITES has listed it on Appendix I. In 1998, the Russian government adopted a strategy for the conservation of the Amur leopard. WWF is supporting anti-poaching activities in the Barsovy wildlife refuge, as well within the whole leopard habitat in the Russian Far East. The organization is also implementing programmes to stop the traffic in Amur leopard parts and to increase the population of prey ungulate (hoofed) species in the leopard’s habitat. WWF staff are also monitoring the leopard population and its habitat. The Amur leopard has some very distinguishing features. The hairs of its summer pelt are 2.5 cm long but in winter they are replaced by 7 cm long ones. Apart from its long winter coat, the Amur leopard is easily told apart from other leopard subspecies by its widely spaced rosettes with thick borders. It also has longer legs, probably an adaptation for walking through snow. The Amur leopard is habitually nocturnal and solitary. Nimble-footed and strong, it carries and hides unfinished kills so that they are not taken by other predators. Adult males: 32-48 kg, exceptionally large males weigh up to 75 kg. Females: 25-43 kg. Light colour in the winter, more reddish-yellow in the summer. Major habitat type: Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forests / Range States: Russia, China, probably North Korea Geographical Location: South of the Far East-Primorskii region (Russian Far East), Tzilin, Heilundzyan Provinces (Northern China). Ecological Region: Russian Far East Temperate Forests Interesting Fact: The Amur leopard has been reported to leap more than 6 m horizontally and more than 3 m vertically. Fewer than 40 left in the wild Taken w/Nikon D2Xs, Nikkor 300/4 AFS-I

  • Taken at Crown Hill Park in Lakewood, Colorado. This my usual dog-walking park and more recently my coyote-photography park. it’s a pretty unassuming little place, but when the light is just right it can be spectacular. • This just looks cool. It has no deeper meaning. But yeah, I’m really happy with how this came out. It would make a great sticker too.

  • I’ve updated and played with my original version of this one, which you can find here / There’s much more going on here with extra layers, drawings and I’ve drawn some text too. / Hope you like!

  • Photograph of a splashing droplet , as if you didn’t know. It’s in the shape of a crown …as if…... and It’s pretty and pink, so there you have it :) / /

  • water droplets splashing, some of the droplets were shooting out at a different angle while others were dropping down and this was the result when they crashed. It’ll never happen again LOL. I might crop out the big droplet that’s falling…I can’t make up my mind :) recent retouch / /

  • Hand drawn and rendered… Saint Death (also known as La Santísima Muerte, and Doña Sebastiana), is a religious figure who receives petitions for love, luck, and protection. Although the Catholic Church has attacked the worship of Saint Death as a pagan tradition, many people insist on praying to this figure for miracles. Those who pray to this figure are often seeking the recovery of health, stolen items, or kidnapped family members. Saint Death is often depicted as a female figure, dressed as a grim reaper with a scythe and scales; also she can be dressed in a long white satin gown and a golden crown. In this form, many devotees view her as a variation of the Virgin Mary. / Some believe the cult of Saint Death originated from ancient witchcraft; however, Saint Death may have his/her roots in pre-Christian beliefs of the Aztec Native Americans who worshiped a similar figure by the name of Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, along with his wife, Mictecacihuatl. The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos in Spanish) is a holiday celebrated mainly in Mexico and by people of Mexican heritage. Family and friends gather to pray for and remember friends and relatives who have died. Many people believe that during the Day of the Dead, it is easier for the souls of the departed to visit the living. During the period most people visit the cemeteries where their loved ones are buried and decorate their graves with ofrendas, or offerings, often including orange marigolds called “cempasúchitl” (now usually called “Flor de Muerto” (“Flower of the Dead”)). These flowers are thought to attract souls of the dead to the offerings. A common symbol of the holiday is the skull (colloquially called calavera), which celebrants represent in masks, and foods such as sugar skulls, which are inscribed with the name of the recipient on the forehead. Sugar skulls are gifts that can be given to both the living and the dead. Some people believe that possessing “dia de los muertos” items can bring good luck. Many people get tattoos or have dolls of the dead to carry with them. The artist recommends a lighter colour tee for maximum detail. A darker tee will hide the black line work.

  • ©2007-2008 Aimee Stewart, Foxfires – please see my CC Terms of Use before considering using this image for any personal or commercial use http://foxfires.deviantart.com/journal/15905899/ / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- There are so many familiar sayings out there about ‘Time’ as we know it. Time heals all wounds. Time flies when you’re having fun. Time stands still. Time waits for no one. If I could turn back the hands of Time. Frozen in Time. Timeless…. you get the idea. Well, I wanted to create a series that perhaps captured the essence of these things, in relation to human emotion. And so my Time series was born. I know in my heart what each of them means, but I did not name them anything specific, so that the viewer could make up their own mind as to the meaning of each piece. I think that is something unique to every individual. So…my heartfelt thanks for continuing to watch and support my artistic endeavors. It feeds the fire that burns and inspires. / Aimee

  • Oh man… It took me forever to get this one to the point where I would submit it here to RedBubble, haha. Anyway, it’s loosely based off of a tattoo design I drew up a while back. I was wanting “Strong and Courageous” in Latin across the banner, but the translators I found online came up with “Validus quod Fortis” which means “Mighty and Strong.” But it works well enough for me ;) Hope you guys like it!

  • Just playing around in PSP with a photo of my daughter Kassidy in a pensive mood, I couldn’t help but think how she looked old beyond her years, and she made me think of the Child Empress in The Neverending Story I and how she had the weight of the world on her shoulders. A little tweaking and playing with several different photos and this is the result! :) All resources used my own, taken on my Canon Powershot A480 point and shoot. A little help from the generous Trisste for a slight emphasis on the lashes.
