water droplets splashing, some of the droplets were shooting out at a different angle while others were dropping down and this was the result when they crashed. It’ll never happen again LOL. I might crop out the big droplet that’s falling…I can’t make up my mind :) / /

The last things I painted in 2007. / / Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink pen and silver leaf. I got this paint flicker thing a few months back and have been splattering test canvases, this is the first time I’ve used it in a finished piece. Fun fun! / / This one I’ve called ‘found’, though that’s not necessarily what’s happening. / Each of these creatures could be considered ‘mistrustful’ perhaps. How did they come to have a shiny crown? Did they find them? Steal them? Maybe the crowns always belonged to them. / / These are actually 3 separate canvases, making up a set. I’ve combined them into one image for RB. / / / / / / / / This one shows the shiny silver crown… / /

I love the slighlty futuristic appeal of this image. Although it’s just a rooftop carpark it has some amazing shapes ineracting with eachother – I played with the highlight shadows just enough to give the shapes a life of their own.

Amur leopard snarling. Captive animal. / / Amur leopard, only 33 are left in the wild, more precious than its weight in 24 karat gold! / / / TIP JAR: IF YOU LIKE MY WORK SUPPORT ME WITH ANY AMOUNT YOU WISH / / RAFFLE ITEMS HERE / / Part of my NEW SIGNATURE SERIES that utilizes the painterly effects of photoshop combined with the emotive scenes of the natural world to create a visual feast for all discriminating art lovers! Because of the signature this line will not be available as cards, I apologize about this but I have the same shots available for purchase as cards but without a signature. They can be located by browsing my portfolio. / / The AMUR leopard is rarely found in cold or high-elevation environments and is best known in its more familiar home in the savannas of Africa, where populations are relatively stable. However, in the northernmost part of its range, a rare subspecies of this cat lives in the temperate forests and harsh winters of the Russian Far East. This is the Amur leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis), also known as the Far East leopard, the Manchurian leopard or the Korean leopard. IUCN’s 2000 Red List of Threatened Species classifies the subspecies as Critically Endangered, and the CITES has listed it on Appendix I. In 1998, the Russian government adopted a strategy for the conservation of the Amur leopard. WWF is supporting anti-poaching activities in the Barsovy wildlife refuge, as well within the whole leopard habitat in the Russian Far East. The organization is also implementing programmes to stop the traffic in Amur leopard parts and to increase the population of prey ungulate (hoofed) species in the leopard’s habitat. WWF staff are also monitoring the leopard population and its habitat. The Amur leopard has some very distinguishing features. The hairs of its summer pelt are 2.5 cm long but in winter they are replaced by 7 cm long ones. Apart from its long winter coat, the Amur leopard is easily told apart from other leopard subspecies by its widely spaced rosettes with thick borders. It also has longer legs, probably an adaptation for walking through snow. The Amur leopard is habitually nocturnal and solitary. Nimble-footed and strong, it carries and hides unfinished kills so that they are not taken by other predators. Adult males: 32-48 kg, exceptionally large males weigh up to 75 kg. Females: 25-43 kg. Light colour in the winter, more reddish-yellow in the summer. Major habitat type: Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forests / Range States: Russia, China, probably North Korea Geographical Location: South of the Far East-Primorskii region (Russian Far East), Tzilin, Heilundzyan Provinces (Northern China). Ecological Region: Russian Far East Temperate Forests Interesting Fact: The Amur leopard has been reported to leap more than 6 m horizontally and more than 3 m vertically. Fewer than 40 left in the wild

We arrived late at night,my eyes were shining with admiration when I first saw that amazing manoir .It was just like in my dreams and I would spend a whole night in one of those beautiful bedrooms. The little boudoir looked so cosy with all the big sofas and the old imported carpet from the orient .I just felt like sitting down comfortably and relax for a few minutes.I closed my sleepy eyes just a second and open it as quickly, surprised by a cold draft on my neck…she was there with that half smile, sitting so straight on a little chair,an adorable girl with her funny crown and a mirror in her hands ....My husband said that I fell asleep and had a dream but I didn’t .I hope that you believe me …. / For my friend Geraint…. /

Heart of Gold is a mixed media production on watercolour paper / and one of my most recent paintings The painting itself was inspired by a response to Sylvia, the character in Bryce Courtney’s novel who led the Children’s Crusades during medieval times. In my painting, Sylvia is on a quest, just as I am, always searching for a heart of gold. She has the key to unlocking goodness and kindness and truth hanging from her belt, and she carries a staff with a beautiful flower and wears a crown, symbolising that she is both shepherdess and a leader of her people. Her horse also wears a heart around his neck. They rely on one another for support and encouragement during difficult times.

Oh…something bad must have happened. Another set of 3 canvases – watercolour, chalk pastel, ink pen, metallic pen and silver leaf, each canvas is 15cm x 10cm – I’ve created a composite for RB. / / / / / / I make composites of these sets so I don’t fill my folio (and people’s activity monitors!) – if anyone wants to buy one of these on their own, let me know!

Crown Jewel ~ inspired by the Taj Mahal, which is often referred to as / ‘Poetry in Stone’ The History of Lost Love / Shah Jahan of the Mogul dynasty was yet to accede the throne when he heard about the unsurpassed beauty of Mumtaz. He took Mumtaz as his third wife in 1612. For the next 18 years Shah Jahan and Mumtaz were inseparable. Shah Jahan took his wife along on every journey and war campaign. Over the years Mumtaz came to be his best friend, his critic and a canny political adviser. Mumtaz was expecting their 14th child when Shah Jahan embarked on a campaign against the Lodhi Empire in 1631. In the heat of the Indian summer, the army traveled to the Deccans. Mumtaz, who had accompanied the emperor, went through a rigorous childbirth. She died in Burhanpur. On her deathbed, she asked her husband to promise her that he would build a monument to their love. Legend has it that he locked himself in his room for eight days without food after Mumtaz passed away. After burying Mumtaz temporarily in Burhanpur, Shah Jahan went about constructing the Taj Mahal in right earnest. He summoned the best architects and artisans from far away lands like Multan, Kannauj, Lahore, Iraq and Persia. He arranged for the best marble from all around. It took 22 years, 22,000 people, 400 elephants and 32 million rupees to build the Taj Mahal. The result: an awe-inspiring structure, which is one of the most globally recognized symbols of grace and beauty. The Magnificent Monument / Built on a raised, square platform it is as tall as a 20-storey building. You enter through an imposing gateway. The complex consists of an elaborate garden set in the typical charbagh style, a mosque, a guesthouse and several other charming buildings. The mausoleum itself stands at the farthest end of the complex, right along the Yamuna River. The signature central dome (58 ft in diameter and 213 ft high) is truly magnificent and is echoed in the smaller domed chambers on all sides. The four slender minarets that rise from the corners of the mausoleum complete the picture of symmetry. The undisputed majesty and beauty is further reflected in the exquisite artistry created by inspired artisans from Baghdad, Shiraz and Bukhara. Exquisite floral patterns and calligraphy on both the exterior and interior were inlaid with precious stones such as jasper and agate. Quotations from the Koran were etched into stone archways; a pinnacle was set on the central dome; and thus came to life the most splendid resting place a lover could ever hope to find on this planet! By Ravi Kunjithai / Beautiful intricate abstract design bursting forth in hues of light blue and gray, yellow / orange, and even a hint of rose, all interspersed with lovely metalic golds. ‘Inspired Series’ card by Karin Taylor Mixed media production on paper, ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic. Pilgrimage is about our passage through life, the boat represents the vehicle by which she travels, the wise animal represents the voice of wisdom, the bare tree represents a brand new slate on which to write each day, the crown speaks of how special each individual is. Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The lotus represents strength through love. The daisies are for simplicity. The bindi is for spiritual insight. This is a card to encourage.

Meet Belabo / / During my visit to Limbe Wildlife Centre in Cameroon, I wanted to adopt a primate. Easy? No way – there are so many there, and I fell in love with them all. / / I spent a couple of weeks trying to figure out which one to adopt [not that it makes any difference, the funds generated are pooled anyway], and in the end I went for this little guy. / / Many visitors adopt primates while visiting the centre [especially western visitors who can afford to], but the majority of them opt for a great ape, mandrill or drill, so that ruled out about 60 animals as I wanted to go for one that generated less income for the centre. / / So that left the Guenons, Baboons and a few Mangabeys. / / The baboons and Mangabeys all live with troops [lots of company] so that ruled them out – I was thinking I would go for one that had things a little more difficult in life. / / There are about 20 guenons at LWC, and apart from 7 Preuss’s Guenons, they all live together, but only this one – Belabo is a lone species at the centre. He lives happily with the other guenons, but is the only one of his kind – so I chose him. / / He is a Crowned Guenon and is called Belabo after the name of the town he was rescued from [his mother probably killed and sold for Bushmeat and him destined for the pet trade to be sold to the highest bidder]. / / Belabo is a happy soul – he spends much of his day playing with the other guenons, but on occasion he sits and plays with his crown and purrs to himself. I used to watch him doing this and couldnt help but wonder if he was just missing his own kind.
