Here’s the Golden Gate Bridge looking more “golden” than ever! / And, since it is in the “Golden State”, that makes it quite clever!! / CREATION INFORMATION Medium: Travel/Architectural/Digital Photography. Technique: Digital Cross Processing. Tools: Digital Camera, Photoshop CS2. Shooting Location: The Golden Gate Bridge – San Fransisco, CA / CONTEST & CHALLENGE HISTORY 04/01/08 – Entry to United States Group’s U.S. State’s Motto Competition [California state motto: “Eureka! (I have found it!)” / The Golden Gate Bridge has long been one of our state’s most beloved landmarks and icons, representing the Golden State’s appeal to those who seek fame, fortune, and fancy! And, being a bridge, it is a metaphor of what California’s first pioneers had to do to reach for their wildest dreams – they had to cross all sorts of metaphoric bridges! To get somewhere, we eventually have to cross a bridge of some sort. Sometimes we cannot see where the bridge ends, sometimes it is too cloudy or treacherous, and sometimes (as in the photo depicted here) the bridge seems too ominous and foreboding. Bridges, much like The Golden Gate Bridge (as seen here), represent choices and chances and the moment we come to one, we must decide whether or not we stay where we are or cross. The original pioneers knew this, of course, and they took those chances and exercised leaps of faith all in the hopes of one day being able to say “Eureka, I have found it!”
This was taken at Mt Vernon Cemetery near Sand Rock Alabama. It’s where my father in law is buried.

Taken at a station of the Montreal subway. There were these signs all over the city with different sayings like “bored in a chemistry class” and “taking the wrong subway line”. This one says “alone on a Saturday night” and I thought that the empty chairs right beside it drove the point home.

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) Brightly coloured flowering annual that is heat and drought tolerant and thrives in hot, sunny positions and is grown for its ferny grey-green foliage as well as its colourful flowers. They do well in poor well drained soil, and don’t mind the frost. They flower continually for months. Plants can be short-lived but often self-seed. California Poppy is related to the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum), but does not contain opiate alkaloids. Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. The term gay was originally used, until well into the mid-20th century, primarily to refer to feelings of being “carefree,” “happy,” or “bright and showy”; it had also come to acquire some connotations of “immorality” as early as 1637. The term later began to be used in reference to homosexuality, in particular, from the early 20th century, a usage that may have dated prior to the 19th century. In modern English, gay has come to be used as an adjective, and occasionally as a noun, that refers to the people, practices, and culture associated with homosexuality. By the end of the 20th century the word gay was recommended by major style guides to describe people attracted to members of the same sex. At about the same time, a new, pejorative use was visible in some parts of the world. In the UK, US and Australia, this connotation, among younger generations of speakers had a non-sexual derisive meaning equivalent to rubbish or stupid (as in “That’s so gay.”) The Rainbow flag or Pride flag of the LGBT community (also known as the gay pride flag) is a symbol of LGBT pride and LGBT social movements in use since the 1970s. The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and the flag is often used as a symbol of gay pride in LGBT rights marches. It originated in the United States, but is now used worldwide. Designed by San Francisco artist Gilbert Baker in 1978, the design has undergone several revisions. As of 2008, the most common variant consists of six stripes, with the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet. The flag is commonly flown horizontally, with the red stripe on top, as the colors would appear in a natural rainbow.
