Found this old ruin on the way back from the Wildlife Park. There was no signage or anything appart from some worn plaques by the door to indicate what it was. I did some diging on t’interrnet and came up with this. The chapel of St Drostan probably stood within the walled / burial-ground of ancient date. There is an ivy-clad erection in / this old cemetery : on it are two inscriptions, one on each side / of the doorway. The inscription on the right-hand side com- / memorates Captain George Macintosh of the 6oth Regiment, / who died in 1780 in his sixty-sixth year. On the other side of the / doorway is a record showing that ” this Tomb was erected at / the wish and at the expense of Captain George Macintosh of the / Sixtieth Regiment ”. This George Macintosh may have been / an unmarried brother of William of Balnespick who was tacks- / man of Dunachton at that time. Something’s happened to the Windy City… A vision of Embra Castle transported to a far away place – under the Southern Cross! Combination of a friend’s pic of Edinburgh, with one of my star trails shots.
This is a 3D Stereo Photo of Gauri Sankar, a mountain in the Rolwaling Himal Range (a sub-range of the Himalayas) which rises to 7134m in northern central Nepal on the border between Nepal and Tibet. A magnificent sculptured mountain which I am lucky to have captured like this, from an Everest scenic flight on Yeti Air in 2006. Taken with a Canon 400D using a 17-85mm IS USM lens with circular polarising filter. Alighment and cropping was done in Photoshop to create this ‘Convergent Stereo Photo’ (cross-eye). This is a 3D Stereo Photo of the Himalayas (Rolwaling Himal sub-range). From left to right, front to back and shortest to tallest is Gauri Sankar at 7134m, Melungtse at 7181m and on the far horizon is Cho Oyu rising to 8153m in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Gauri Sankar is on the border between Nepal and Tibet, Melungtse is in Tibet, and as the border meanders back around Melungtse to the west then east again, Cho Oyu is also on the border between Nepal and Tibet. Taken on an Everest scenic flight on Yeti Air in 2006 with a Canon 400D using a 17-85mm IS USM lens with circular polarising filter.
