Cross in Pere LaChaise Cemetary In Paris
In the door to the cemetery there was this spiderweb….
My girl’s Megan’s dog. Made to commemorate Muffy’s death. :’(
This painting is heavily influenced by Arthur Boyds work (in particular “Nude Washing in Creek #3” 1961). The second influence for this is an old housemate who tatooed his face to ensure his resolve wouldn’t weaken, and cause him to join society. He (Jason) had a plan to teach people how to live off the land (eg kill a kangaroo and waste no part of the animal). / Thus the kanga is not unhappy as it knows its death is not in vain. / Acrylic on Canvas
These pieces express so many things that I could not possibly express in words. They reflect the different times in my life; the many emotions I felt. There are some old favourites of mine in this calendar, and some new, popular pieces. / Take yourself on a journey into the realm of my art. Which of my art pieces does your birthday fall on? Love to you all, / Sarah Bentvelzen / www.sarahbentvelzen.com
Sad, but powerful image
Ancient Celtic gravesite with unmarked gravestones from the 1600’s in the middle of a meadow in rural Scotland.
Gothic cross design
Shot in a small, mostly neglected cemetery on Thompson Road in south Walton County, Florida. While there are a few newer headstones in the back of the cemetery, the front remains virtually neglected. Funny thing is, these chairs get regularly moved around and rearranged. Strange…but occasionally makes for some interesting photos —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— Nikon D100 / Tokina 10-20 lens
“And when the Lamb had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour” Revelation 8:1pretty cool passage makes you stop and think half an hour (?)...whether you believe the Bible or not the Book of Revelation is a cliff hanger. Antonius Block is an incredible persona in Ingmar Bergman’s film “The Seventh Seal” upon returning from the Crusades he encounters Death who has come for him…imagine surviving ten years of fighting in the Crusades only to discover after all that…that Death has decided the fate of Antonius Block…not before he challenges Death to a chess match…if you have seen this film you know it is a masterpiece if you have not seen The Seventh Seal…do see it. “I met death today. We are playing chess” Antonius Block.
He died so that we may live. There is nothing more beautiful than the empty cross! Photo by my daughter.
this piece was done for my crusifixion project.
